That video is a tad misleading, that was the second time around(at least) and the impression I got was the last 10 guys that did it were called back to do it because they did so well the first time.
.

The video isn't misleading at all. In Roy's first go-around in the OK drill he got knocked back as well. He didn't get pancaked 10 yards downfield by a rookie WR, but he did get abused. It's one of the first few they show. For reasons known only to Marvin Lewis, he called Roy back. Maybe to see if the rookie WR would be intimidated. Obviously he was not. The only one who seemed intimidated by the drill was Roy Williams (and perhaps Lav Coles...Williams's co-conspirator in not going 100% in the drill until they were busted by Lewis.)

it's funny how someone gives an opinion about Roy going soft once he started preaching than all the religious people think it's absolutely crazy. they point to one of the greatest players of all time in Reggie White and act like well since he was religious and a great player that no way could Roy start to suck after he started spending more time with his bible than playbook. why not point to Jon Kitna who's another preacher who sucks as a football player?

Thank you.

He went from being a head hunter in college to being a out of shape preacher in the pros.

Just because Roy Williams lost his killer instinct due to his religious commitment doesn't say a thing about religious players in general.

It just means he used his anger or whatever before as a tool to help him play better and when he lost it (which he has attributed to getting involved with the church), his play declined. The Reggie White case is a great example. Roger Staubach was pretty much a saint, but he was intense and extremely competitive. Williams degenerated into a sensitive thin-skinned non-competitive lump by the time he was cut. It was a gradual but noticeable decline that began approximately in 2004 after a combination of the Rowland situation, the horsecollar flap and his foray into deep religious devotion.

The simple fact of the matter is his personality. Not the fact he is religious. Football and what he used to motivate himself with simply aren't there anymore. He allowed his off-the-field lifestyle to affect his on-the-field persona and he is not the first player to ever do that.

It is something many people have tried to say for at least the last three-four years of his tenure in Dallas. But obviously, like many other players that needed to go, they have to show their level of mediocrity elsewhere before some people believe it.

Roy Williams in no longer here, and for whatever criticism you can levy against him, you can't deny that he loved being a Dallas Cowboy. I doubt he ever wanted or expected to be anything else, and the transition has likely been very traumatic for him.

So, rather than trashing his play and religious proclivities, why don't we let him be? It's not as if he was a divisive snit in the locker room; his play simply declined. It happens. And as much as his faltering ability and talent frustrated me during games, I won't begrudge him.

Just let it go, let him go, and wish him well.

It has nothing to do with religion, it has everything to do with bling. When he was featured in Hard Knocks his rookie year, during the barbecue, he was a shy and you would think if you didn't know him a wimpy guy. College football has many players that are unskilled and not talented. In the NFL everyone is big, fast and can play. Roy just met his match in the NFL. He cant bully people here and I dont think he was the type of guy that ever had a mean streak in him. He just got through college by being bigger and more intimating than everyone else. Now that he has money he has no determination any more.

Sounds like someone has issues with religion.

Funny how you people still cannot let this go even though he is not a Cowboy anymore.

White is only one example and I believe people mentioned that many people in the NFL are religious and it doesn't have any effect on their game at all. It's just silly, and frankly one of the most ignorant things I've ever seen used as an excuse for Roy not playing up to his potential, to say religion turned Roy into a lazy, uncompetitive, satisfied football player.

Religion has absolutely nothing to do with a person becoming lazy and simply not caring enough anymore.

Getting big time contracts, for big time money however will cause people, who are only working super hard to get that money, to become content and lazy in their work cause they're set.
