VIDEO: Joe DeCamillis On Why He Is Back To Work Already

Why has he seen less complexity, anyway? ST is more than just run down and hit someone.

I do agree that ST's is more than just run down and hit somebody.

But there is some middle ground. Do you really want to make the point that being a ST's coach is as complex as being an offensive or defensive coordinator? I'm not buying that.

Am I saying ST coaches can never become HC's? Obviously not. But its not the traditional pathway. And my original point was that DeCamillas is not more qualified than Garrett, not that DeCamillas couldn't do it.

On the other hand the criteria you look for in a ST coach has some significant differences to the criteria for a HC.
  1. Hands on versus results through others, delegation, follow-up etc.
  2. Talent evaluation. ST's coach often gets "handed" his players. HC with Jerry has significant player input.
Again, not saying Joe D can't do it. Just saying Garrett is equally qualified (IMO) and the work of ST's doesn't translate as readily as that of a coordinator.

I would have absolutely NO qualms if Joe D took over as the HC of the Cowboys after Wade was done. I love everything he is about.

coach D is what courage is.

the eags should be ashamed for giving that award to Vick. disgrace.

Cowher was a ST coach too, was only a DC a few seasons before he got the Steelers' HC gig.
