Reminds me of Kevin Faulk from NE. They play different positions, but size wise and being clutch and all reminds me of him. Maybe he can be the next Preston Pearson.

Or maybe even a poor man's Troy Brown. Not big, not fast, just some quickness and knows how to play.

Troy Brown is actually a pretty good comparison. I like the guy alot, any WR who plays hard, catches the ball and has an IQ is alright with me....even moreso as a slot receiver.

I agree I think many go over board and the comparison of a rookie to an established vet is foolish. I like Cosby and would love to get him but I would not reach for him in the draft, if by chance he slides in the draft and we are in a position to get him then great if not then so be it

wasn't royal also a longhorn? seems like they've had a good run of WRs lately.

Yes. Not much. Yes. Not much.

I agree. They have to get Austin back here because he took some steps forward.

Hurd is a goner IMO. After a few years he just didn't impress all that much even though I had high hopes for him.

I think he's back, but I wish he wasn't.

Jerry made this pick. Nuff said.

Eddie Royal?

He was from Va Tech. He really showed up this season. I think he's way more talented than Cosby too. Reminds me of a sleeker Steve Smith with more athleticism than Cosby.

Oh, okay. I thought maybe you meant Hurd.

BTW, maybe it was technically Jerry who made the pick, but now-Miami luminary Jeff Ireland was in love with him.

Actually, it was Ireland who was in love with him if he panned out. Jerry, if he busted.

Seems to be the mindset. Player pans out well so in so is responsible but if the player is a bust it is a Jerry move. :laugh2:

Texas has him listed at 5'11" 200lbs and runs a 4.4 40 which Cosby has said he feels he can improve on. Cosby showing at the combines will be important for him.

Like I said in my previous post...

He may "show up" and run a fast 40, but the kid isn't fast on the football field. And how he runs on the football field is the one that matters.

He doesn't look slow on the field. I don't believe he has elite speed, but he doesn't look slow. There are plenty of receivers in the NFL right now that look slower on the field than Cosby. I say 6th round or lower only if Dallas doesn't already have someone else targeted.

Trade him to Miami for John Beck then.

He does not look slow on the football field so I don't know what you are talking about. He is quick in and out of his breaks, he runs good routs and has excellent hands.

He will be gone by then. The kid isn't a Super Star, but he is productive and he's also a special teams guy. Plus he had a huge game in the Fiesta Bowl.

He's agreed to play in the Senior Bowl too.

Yes he is a risk taker but then I would say the Pats were a risk taker when they took Moss despite the trouble he was dealing with as well as being non-productive in Oakland. I think most players come with a risk some more than others.

The Patriots were also risk takers when they traded their 2nd and 7th round draft picks to Miami for Wes Welker. They then were able to sign Welker to a 5 year deal worth $18.1 million dollars including a $9 million signing bonus. I remember a lot of scoffing at the trade and comparisons to the Commanders. That move has paid off for the Patriots because Welker has been very productive in their system.

For a guy his size, yes he is slow. If you're that small and you aren't fast or EXTREMELY quick (he's not), then you don't have many options.

Plus, the players in the NFL are a lot faster then the ones in college.

I like the player. As I said before in this thread, I thought he was better then Sweed even last year (it was obvious). But the kid will likely never be much of anything but a special teamer in the NFL.

That said, I wouldn't mind bringing him in (6th round pick or later) and having him compete with Hurd for the #5 spot. I want winners on the team, and Quan Cosby is a winner. But to say he's fast or really quick would be false. He's a "try hard" guy, and there's nothing wrong with that, but he's definitely NOT fast and only has solid quickness. IMO, we'd have been better off keeping Amendola.
