Vikings saying the Same Thing as the Rams?

You should be able to pick up a first down in that situation whether the other team knows or not.

Execution.

Does this team self-scout, like at all?

Just finished reading Mickey Spagnola's column and he is claiming the Vikings back DT, who blew up that pitch out to Zeke on 3rd own at the end of the game, said he played run all the way and he knew the Cowboys were going to run the ball by the way they were set up. We heard similar comments from at least two other teams. I am starting to think there is something one or several guys on offense are doing that is tipping off run or pass. When I played baseball, I was taught that pitchers can have "tells" that tip off what pitch they are going to throw. They might so something with the ball or throwing hand subconsciously if they were going to grip the ball differently. Could it be one of the Cowboys offensive lineman or maybe Dak is tipping the play by making a subconscious motion of some kind? This would certainly explain why the Vikings were so successful on those two bizarre run calls at the end. No one could have expected the Cowboys to call those plays in that situation.

Our coaches are so STUPID on both sides of the ball it's laughable. We have guys on this forum more qualified to make game schemes then Dallas coaches. Belichick always take your best weapon away. Minnesota only had one weapon and we couldn't stop him. No run blitzes on defense. No slants on offense when they were easily available all night. This team is so badly ran from top to bottom it's amazing they even show up to the stadium for game day. And it's every year! Since Jimmy and Parcells have left we rarely had a coach worth a crap! Just sick of this BS!

That's why it is important to play off your tendencies. If a team is bent on stopping your run, you can't quit running the ball, but you can mix up what runs you use. We stayed with the expected and got the result we should have expected.

Garrett doesn't like any type of misdirections or trickery in gaining an advantage. He wants the players to beat their man one on one. It's what he calls the process and his entire coaching philosophy revolves around it.

Frankly, I just think he's a moron and doesn't know much about football. I think he got to his position by being a yes man to the Jones's. I wish I was wrong but these types of games played out like the way we lost to Minny is proving me correct: that Garret is a moron.

Kick return guys! We put ole green eyes back there. Vikings knew it was a fair catch coming. We put Austin back there they know it's gonna be a return. How stupid does Garrett think NFL teams are? Un friggin believable. We ran the ball on first down most of the times. Teams know this. Same with the defense. They know we don't change anything. Just line up and hope we get lucky. Our linebackers are getting killed because they have no big body guy up front to protect them. Thompson is the only safety I've seen that gets into the hole for run suspport. This is high school fundamental's that anybody who played would know. Yet we have so called NFL coaching not running schemes High schoolers do.

Players tipping the plays are a distinct possibility.

Or it could be that our play-calling tendencies, coupled with the formations we run, are all that the more astute D-coordinators need to deduce what we’re likely to run in a given situation.
If true, which many players have stated the same, it reallrtella how good/talented our Offense has been over the years to overcome all these teams knowing what we are about to do. Imagine what might have been the past 10 years if we had a competent coaching staff.

Teams have been saying this ever since Ray Lewis played and even beyond him.
This is so embarrassing and a reason why we can't beat top teams. They ALL say they know what we're going to do.
I'm tired of reciting the litany of players and teams who've said this game after game after game after game.
Jason Garrett and the Cowboys still think the scheme of the 90s is going to deliver a Super Bowl appearance.
Just line theirs against ours and may the best man win.

When have we not been outcoached? This team was shutout last year against the Colts.

here here, Ice, the coaching is just subpar, in all facets. consistently starting slow (the first 15 plays or so of every game or so lethargic and vanilla, dink and dunk, and 1st down runs, no downfield throws...playing it 'safe' ), special teams rarely making a big play (and worse, last night, when they NEEDED a big play and it was all set up, not even trying  ), the defense running 3 or 4 defenses all game long AND NOT EVEN TRYING TO DISGUISE THEM (with no adjustments  ), the offense running the same play on most first down, runs up the center's butt, hoping Zeke will fall forward for 3 or 4 yards), and not utilizing all their talent, not having designed plays occasionally for Pollard and Jarwin, and more.

the list is endless how disappointing the coaching staff is from week to week, even when the team wins. the Fins, Giants, Skins, Jets, all games where the Cowboys came out lethargic...and for the Jets, it came back to bite 'em.

JJ's getting fed up, I can see it. He ain't getting any younger so....I think change is a coming. I don't think he's wed to Garrett as much as people think.

A small problem with the theory...

The Rams OLinemen said that about the Cowboys DLinemen.

Your story is about the Cowboys OLinemen...

Nothing has changed with this offense. It's still predictable **. Every team in the league knows what we are doing.

I don't think Garrett is a moron. There is some value to what he believes in, but it can only take you so far, especially the way the game is today where you can't just build a dynasty of talent. His problem is that he refuses to understand that.

Yeah the word moron is a harsh word. But I feel he is clueless when it comes to football. Keep trying to establish the run even though its not working. Even till the very end. It happened in New Orleans. It also happened in last night against Minny.

I think he runs everything vanilla because of his lack of knowledge of football. Last nights game was evident of that.

It is my contention Dallas should have lined up with two receivers right and a tight end. Have the tight end block down on either the DE or linebacker ans both receivers to run crossing routes into the end zone left.

Fake the hand-off left to Zeke and have Dak run the bootleg right.

I was thinking this when it was two yards for a first. As long as you impede the DE and or Linebacker, that two yards should have been fairly routine.

I'll say it again. Dallas now has been bit on Switzer's 4th and 1 24 years later.

I don't know why we refused to run any called bootleg keepers especially when the defense was keying on Elliott every first and second down. It's like we see the value of that in some games and then just totally go away from it in others. We've got a quarterback who can run and we should take advantage of that when the defense is determined not to let Elliott do it.

There were several times when Dak faked the keeper and I kept thinking, "Any minute now, he's going to keep one of those and make some decent yardage." The moment never came ... and that's on the coaching staff.

He believes execution is the key and when something is failing, it's simply a product of his players not executing plays properly. However, when you are doing exactly what the defense is expecting, you have to be significantly better than them across the board to be able to win with execution. Causing the defense to second-guess or hesitate gives you an advantage to exploit. And if Garrett doesn't understand that, I agree that he lacks football knowledge. I think he's far from stupid about the game and his problem comes more from a stubborn belief that what he's doing is the way to win.

You can bet that Zimmer as a D coach for many years analyzed the film and knew where the highest probability was going to be based on formation etc, and instilled this
in his guys. Zeke was hit way too often.

On a side note I thought about Collingsworths quick comment on how much the Boys D slants

To me another opportunity for a coach to see that on film, ala The Rams, Packers and run towards those openings.... Sure looked like the LB's are playing off knowing that looping will take place. Get an RB with a burst and we can see what happens ala the Packers RB and at points Cook last night even though his running yards were not great, but his total
was .

Frustrating to see a RB slicing through our D like it wasn't there...

Excellent summary. Weak opponents you maybe get away with it. Well coached teams , no way and we have seen that several times this year...
