Anyone is better than McNabb. I hate looking at that dude on the cover of '06. Anyone know if they will make '08 available for the PS2 or are they only making it for PS3 now?

LOL, Im not cursing him. I just think its a joke that they picked him at this point in his career, there are a lot of better players in the league then him. He may turn out to be a great player but he isn't there yet. The whole idea around there Super Star mode was becoming an elite player so you can earn the cover then they give it to him. Just doesn't add up.

It must be part of EA's new gimmick QB feature.
The Vince Young vision cone? That makes the defense blurry such that you're unable to tell when player is open?

The real news this year in regards to Madden is that EA appears to have tweaked their next-gen player models for the better. Compare Tom Brady from Madden 07 with a recently released screen shot of VY:

Take a careful look at the shoulder pads of the two players. Last year the pads were angled slightly downward from the player's neck, this year they are parallel to the ground. They also seem to have been extended a little farther outside of the player's shoulders.

Now look at their arms. Brady has massive, linebacker-sized biceps, while Young's are more qb-like.

Sometimes small changes can make a big difference.

Yeah but will the gameplay be better?

I recently purchased NBA 07 for the PS3 the graphics are simply amazing but the game play is horrible.

Same with Madden 07 on the Xbox 360. Missing half the options in franchise mode like the fantasy draft.

Improved look is great and all but Id rather have a game that is fun to play.

Check out the wrinkles at the bottom of the jersey just above the waistline. They're virtually the same wrinkle pattern in both pictures.

I have no idea why I noticed this.

That is the $64,000 question. Consider the implications of the following quote taken from an interview published last week:

http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=15838

EA Sports Director of Marketing Chris Erb said:
Our focus this year is truly around the game play experience. As we get closer to launch, we'll start talking features, but core game play is truly the focus. We started the next-gen games from the ground up with all new engines. We feel we're in a really good space graphically and with our depth, but we've heard the feedback from users and we're taking it to heart this year.

To me, it seems that he is essentially admitting what most of us already knew: the overall gameplay in the first two next-gen Madden's wasn't up to snuff. When have you ever heard the Madden team say something like that?

If EA is really spending the bulk of it's time this year on the basics, we could be in for a real treat come August. Let's hope so.

That's because the uniforms are skins applied over a standardized model. Madden's next-gen physics engine doesn't account for the movement of clothing (unlike, say, NBA 2k7).

I heard Ladanian Tomlinson yesterday on the Dan Patrick Show and he said he was offered the Madden cover but he declined.

All this stuff about Vince being their first choice and that the NFL is in the "middle of a youth movement" and that "Vince was really the guy from day one" is all BS.

LT was their first choice. :lmao:

Well, the guy is Director of Marketing.

Another give away that they wanted LT: the pic of VY above shows him in his home uni, but the stadium isn't Tenneesee's, it's...

I remember first seeing 2k7 and the jerseys flapping in the wind. <<< what my face looked like.

I was in awe.

Madden's gameplay is so far ahead of anything else I don't see why people have a problem with it.

360 is a little bit weak, but I still think game designers are still trying to get a feel for the 360 and what they can and cant do. Give it time and the 360 game will be phenomenal IMO.

Yes, of course. I was just surprised that the skin was the same (or at least very similar) from year to year.

I remember the first Splinter Cell did this. You could walk through curtains and it would drape across your body. And it correctly shaded the lighting. Pretty cool stuff. I sat for an hour or so just walking through curtains.

The gameplay of Madden used to be better. It has taken steps backward, that's the complaint.

I beg to differ. How has it taken steps backward exactly?

You can argue that innovations like the hit stick and passing cone aren't good for it, but that is an opinion and people like me, who LOVE the passing cone will not be convinced otherwise IMO.

I didn't have any problems with the editions before the 360 came out. The cone was annoying, but I learned to play with it. But I LOVED the 05 and 06 versions on XBox.

The 360 versions have been very disappointing. It's like the game has no personality. I had the 06 version, and from what I played and heard of the 07, it wasn't much different from 06, gameplay wise. It's been lifeless in those versions IMO.
