Voch Discussing Jaylon Smith

Smith was just horrendous last year. A bounce back from him and LVE (injury wise) would go a very long way towards helping this team contend. The defense was a liability last year - especially with 2 of its best defensive players in 2018 not contributing or negatively contributing (LVE, Smith).

Along with no ability to move laterally or shed blocks.
The ability to cover sideline to sideline is his strength. Shedding blocks is the bigger problem. He's just not the tough, hard nosed, take on and fight through blocks kind of guy a team needs in the middle. His strength would be in working with more room on the outside. Unfortunately, that may also apply to LVE, so I'm not sure they have an ideal MLB type.

The team does .... but unfortunately he gets hurt a lot.

Exactly, all three of our starting LBs are basically Wills. I'm sure that is why the new staff brought in the Thousand Pounds of Pain group of defensive tackles to keep the OL off them like last year.

Yeah... I don't see him attacking downhill often. He sort of side steps and wraps up the tackle from a side angle.

Yes, but realistically the injury factor keeps him from being ideal as well. I'm not sure at his current age if he would be "ideal" even if healthy, but he would be the best we have.

lol - you'r pushing that moniker. I think you should take it to the media and see if they will carry the torch.

I admit that I don't watch film but I thought Sean was good because he got to the ball carrier before the OL got to him.
Sean Lee was as good as it gets when it comes to vision and anticipation. He never had to be a stack and shed LB, because his run fits were so good he'd beat the blocker, so you're dead right.

LVE has some of that same quality, though it's probably more dependent on his athleticism than Lee ever was.

The Anaehilator is better. You're welcome Cowboys Nation. All he has to do is break out and get 50 sacks ..... this year.

It’s no coincidence that as Antwaun Woods’ performance fell off last year, so did LVE and Smith.

I’m thinking having a legitimate NFL talent at the 1T will help these guys out.
