yea it seems to be a downer for Volek his chance was in Tennesee who i think should have taken Dbrick Furguson at 3 and kept Volek to start.......

but, now Volek is 30 and will be nobody's future qb at that age so now he is most likely relagated to backup duty, and emergency uses only.

poor guy i thought he was gonna be good too.

Considering they brought in a guy off the street to replace him as their #1 quarterback 10 days before the season starts, you have to wonder why the Titans distrust him so strongly.

Why are we so interested in how old he is? Bledsoe is our starter, Romo is the young development guy and Volke would be the vet. The reason you sign Volke (assuming we would even consider doing this) is because of his experience, so as not to be caught in it if Bledsoe went down and Romo did not have the experience needed.

Because having seen him play i have thought to myself "that kid is gonna be pretty good" now if you change the word "kid" in that statement to "old guy" and "gonna be good" to "likely have peakedalready" then we don't need him. no more over 30 signings unless they are kickers or coaches.

Volek has played in a whopping 24 games over the course of 6 years. That's like a season and a half. While he's seen some action in the NFL, he's not exactly a salty veteran.

However, if Romo needs a few protips on how to hold a clipboard, he's our guy.

Well, ask yourself this question. When you were watching him and saying all this to yourself, were you viewing it in the context of him being a starter or were you viewing it in the context of him backing up? To me, he's exactly what you want in a back up. JMO of course.

Exactly. Dallas did the same thing when they signed Bernie Kosar and Rodney Peete. They just wanted guys with experience to back up Aikman. They weren't looking for a long term guy or future prospect. I doubt Dallas would go after anybody right now as they seem satsified with Romo, but if they did Volek would be a good back up for a season or two.

Makes sense, ABQ, but once Bill start musing (or is said to to be musing) about possibly carrying only 2 QBs, then it's because the prospect of cutting guys who don't wear dresses is bothering him.

I suspect Tony's good outings shut the door to any backups coming in, even ones as reliable #2s as Volek.

I can't see it happening, given Romo's great camp/preseason performance - there's no need. I think Parcells intends to keep just 2 quarterbacks to give him depth at other positions. If a team ever gets down to their #3 quarterback, their season is lost anyway.

And Volek should worry about having a no cut clause rather than any no trade clause......

Here's a bit of trivia for ya'll. Don't know if Drew and Mr. Volek would get along too well, since Drew took his older brother, Joe Volek's starting QB position from him at WallaWalla High in the mid 80's when the Voleks lived their.

This could very well be the case. I would not doubt it at all.

To me, it's pretty risky but it's certainly possible. If Bledsoe were to go down at a point in the season where we were doing well and if Romo came in and lost 2 out of 3 or something like that, the pack would be dragging one Bill Parcells down without mercy. In our division, a slide like that could cost us greatly. I think that if our OL competes well, we just might be good enough to have an outside chance at a championship. It would be a real drag to blow that because we were unable to get a decent Back Up QB if we needed one.

No, but I wonder if Washington would give him a look if Brunnell struggles again?

They have one or 2 draft picks still.
