See the problem is this isn't the NCAA, it's a game of winning or losing and you dont get style points for being competitive. Am I surprised to lose games minus a host of starters, no I'm not. But if you told me we would be up 28-14 in the first half against Atlanta, and on the road with a lead at halftime in New Orleans, I would say no matter who is out you find a way to close those games. That's where the frustration lies. I didn't temper super bowl expectations because Tony & Dez went out, I fully expected to beat Atlanta & N.O., and we should have.

Sure I expected to beat Atlanta after jumping out to the early lead, but am I surprised that Dallas faltered down the stretch? No I'm not sometimes you just gotta give credit where credit is due. Atlanta was getting dominated up front in the first half, but they came out and played much better football. They got off blocks, they gave Matt Ryan time in the pocket, they kept running the football right at us, and the Cowboys didn't have an answer. Sometimes there just isn't. Sometimes the other team just outplays you.

New Orleans was at home. They were on a losing streak. We lost to a great quarterback who played his guts out and toughed through a shoulder injury and essentially willed his team to victory. He was sensational. He even had to change his throwing motion a little bit. We often rave about Romo fighting through pain well Drew Brees did the same thing.

Do I think the Cowboys blew some opportunities? Sure, but I can't just not give credit to New Orleans and Atlanta. The Cowboys are just so banged up right now they pretty much have to play a flawless football game and that's so difficult to do. The good news is help is coming. We get a couple of big time impact players on defense. Hardy is one of the best defensive ends in the game. McClain is gonna vastly improve the run defense as well as not having Hitch have to play Mike when he's better at SAM. Then you talk about Dez and Randy after the bye. Gregory was terrific in his debut. The Giants couldn't block him. If Eli wasn't getting the ball out of his hands so quickly he probably has two or three sacks. He's athletic, powerful, got good technique, plays with outstanding leverage, and just so explosive off the edge. As for Dez you simply get back argurably the most dominant wideout in the game. A guy who can single handily take over games. We've seen it over and over. A guy who will help the running game. A game who teams have to double. A freak of nature. The emotional leader of this team.

Exactly. But with today's generation of fans who have never experienced a winning team, what more do you expect? They are perfectly fine with mediocrity. It's the fantasy football syndrome. Dez and Tony out so we should lose!! WTH is wrong with you people, we should have won one of those games. For you not to be upset, tells me I'm arguing with dope-heads!!!

.

There's never an excuse to get outscored 22-0 in the second half of a game you were winning by double digits at halftime and lose. There's just no excuse. I'm not with this "no vaseline" approach of sometimes you just gotta give credit where credit is due. It's 2 teams involved in every game all I'm seeing is you give credit to the opposing teams while making excuses for this one.

If we're sitting here in week 16/17, and we are making threads about how we need to win and this team needs to lose and that team needs to lose..you'll know why, but I guess we just have to give credit where credits due.

1. We've been complaining about the safeties for years.
2. We've been complaining about Marinelli's stubbornness regarding the DT position for years.
3. Many of us were perplexed why they decided to play with fire by bringing back Weeden. 0-10 his last 10 starts. He's a loser.

All three are biting us in the butt. There is good reason to be upset with this organization right now. This doesn't even touch on the lack of gameday imagination and in-game adjustments from our coaches.

That's just the tip of the iceberg of what is wrong with this organization.

4. Continue to rely upon injury riddled players like Sean Lee, Romo
5. There is still no accountability for dumb penalties. Witten and Free have been guilty for years.
6. Still searching for a decent blocking TE. Name the last one......please
7. Injury riddled team year after year.....yet befuddled by why???? When it's so obvious that Camp Cupcake doesn't prepare our players for contact/when the real bullets fly.
8. Just dumb game day decisions.....game after game. Players unprepared. That's coaching.
9. Been searching for a true #2 WR for years. T. Will has been faking it for years.....Better suited to be a #3 WR.
10. I've been screaming for a D-line rotation for years....one designed for the run...one vs the pass. Yet....(as an example) this team continues to throw D-law into the fire for 60+ plays....and expects him to stay fresh.

I could go on.....but what's the point? Nothing will change until there is a change in ownership.....and that doesn't seem to be happening.

I actually find it quite amusing.

Nothing like full grown men getting emotional and resorting to name calling because their favorite sports team is doing poorly and another poster disagreed with them on whom to place blame.

It resembles the schoolyard when a kid wearing a Batman shirt is told that Superman is better.

That's funny to me.

Man, it seems like a lot of fans have been circling around waiting for that right moment to swoop in with the things they hate about this team: Marinelli sucks, Garrett sucks, get rid of the whole team.

Where were you guys last year when we were healthy and everything was going well?

I can't believe this many are so surprised or upset that we've lost the last two games without Romo and Dez and several other important players. This is a game of inches and we're giving up a mile without stars like that. It either says good things about our team or bad things about our opponents that we've actually been competitive with Weeden at QB, Williams as our lead receiver, players like Jack Crawford and Ryan Russell having to play significant snaps, a rookie linebacker who had played only a few snaps having to step in for Lee, etc.

When things fall apart like they have this year, you hope and pray for a win knowing that you should lose to teams that have a better QB starting, better No. 1 receiver, etc. The expectation around here are just unbelievable. Even if we were starting Cassel instead of Weeden, we could expect to go no better than .500 with Romo out because these guys are backups for a reason.

You should have stopped at surprised!

LOL you guys act like we played the '85 Bears on Sunday. It was the 0-3 'Aints. Most of this site were picking us to win regardless if Brees played. Now we're getting all of these injury excuses....cmon now.

Were we also predicting Sean Lee, Lamce Dunbar, and Brice Butler would also go out during the game as well?

Injuries matter.

Misery loves company. The fact is that many people on this board are on this board because they don't really have anything in their lives they are happy or passionate about so they live vicariously through football. Dallas having issues gives them a reason to express their misery. The fact that they are nameless and faceless allows them the keyboard privacy and courage to amp their misery up as high as possible. They see no personal ramifications and it makes them feel better for the time they are doing it.

Not this.

I don't see how anybody could have watched the last two games and concluded that Weeden was the problem.

The day before the Falcons game, my parents asked me what I thought about the Cowboys chances against the Falcons. I told them the better quarterback typically wins in this league. So, that pretty much tells you my opinion of the next 3 games, with the only caveat being that Brees plays. And, as we all know, Brees played. I was honestly expecting to lose. But we didn't lose like I was right. It wasn't just because Brees was the better quarterback. Brees was still better, but he was not Brees at 100%. And Weeden answered his detractors with several throws down field. I felt like the playcalling was more geared towards not losing, as opposed to, trying to win...if that make sense. The Cowboys didn't really let loose on offense until they absolutely had to; and in the end, that wasn't enough. They played it safe and it bit them in the end. Just me take on it.

Having said all that, I haven't given up on the season either. I still say this team can be one of the better teams if not best by season end if they can figure out a way to keep their 46 intact.

I totally agree with you bro...the only concern I have about that is...by the time they are all back healthy and are hitting their best strides.....are they 5-9 at that point?

when your players talk all off season about good things for this year then the fans get up beat and have expectation then your team plays like crap then yes they are very disappointed

Missing most key players and playing 3rd and 4th stringers will do that. Let's see what happens when we start to get guys back

This....

@RunDMC

It doesn't mean I expect a perfect team. I fully expect them to lose the next 3 games. I thought a Super Bowl caliber team would at least grab one of these "easier" games to balance out the losses that are coming the next month. They didn't do it, so now the season is over.

Yup. I hung my hat on being 3-1. We're done
