He needs to be fired from his clock management role as well. I think that the guys upstairs have completely taken over the challenge decision process, but that is probably true for many coaches.
Man, it seems like a lot of fans have been circling around waiting for that right moment to swoop in with the things they hate about this team: Marinelli sucks, Garrett sucks, get rid of the whole team.
Where were you guys last year when we were healthy and everything was going well?
I can't believe this many are so surprised or upset that we've lost the last two games without Romo and Dez and several other important players. This is a game of inches and we're giving up a mile without stars like that. It either says good things about our team or bad things about our opponents that we've actually been competitive with Weeden at QB, Williams as our lead receiver, players like Jack Crawford and Ryan Russell having to play significant snaps, a rookie linebacker who had played only a few snaps having to step in for Lee, etc.
When things fall apart like they have this year, you hope and pray for a win knowing that you should lose to teams that have a better QB starting, better No. 1 receiver, etc. The expectation around here are just unbelievable. Even if we were starting Cassel instead of Weeden, we could expect to go no better than .500 with Romo out because these guys are backups for a reason.
I agree. I'm not predicting anything only pointing out what I feel they must do to win the game. We must get some turnovers in this game creating short fields, guys are must make the tackles not allowing the extra yards and play clean (few penalties and no turnovers) Clearly if they continue to make mistakes NE is a team who will capitalize on those mistakes.
Why are you letting other fans ignorance effect how you feel?
Frankly, while I definitely would prefer the victory, I'll be happy if we can get all our defenders out there and show that this defense has teeth. I want to see at least some glimpses of what this defense is going to become.
I don't expect the offense to be able to do that without Romo and Dez, and frankly, the defense also will benefit from their return, but give me reason to hope that once they do return, this team can run the table to make the playoffs.
I have never been the type to concede. That is just my nature be as a fan or playing sports. You are out there to win. NE is a very good team and no doubt if Dallas continues to play sloppy especially on defense we have little chance. Defense must step up, we are getting key players back and they will need to hold down scoring in this game. NE defensively can be had, but that offense is capable of going off big
Oh, I won't concede the game. There's a difference in the realistic side of me that knows there's little chance and the hopeful fan side of me that hears, "There's a chance."
It doesn't change how I feel. Just pointing out how ridiculous it is and why.
I agree. Believe me I'm not betting my house on this game. NE is a very good team and even if Romo and Dez were in the lineup we would still likely be underdogs in this game.
someone needs a hug.
i hate to be the one to break this to you, but i'm also sure i'm not the first to let you know this - but we all have our own reasons to be fans of this team. just cause my reason ain't your reason doesn't make my reason wrong. if you really want to call out hypocracy we can all sooner or later get tagged for it simply for nothing else than the other point of view. (ie, not our own).
but have a day lookin for that elusive huggins.
We are in a bad situation injurywise and we just have to let it play out before we can really judge anything other than some backups not being able to fill the starters' shoes. We're not losing games we should win. We're losing games we should lose because we should lose to Matt Ryan and Drew Brees when our defense is missing key starters and we're without Romo and Bryant. But hopefully we will be able to steal at least a couple of wins before Romo returns. Otherwise, we'll probably be done for the year.
The post in general was fair enough and if you weren't on board with some of these moves, then I don;t knwo what you're complaining about when someone points out how bad they were.
In any event, I don't believe we shouldn't win these games. I think we could steal a couple to give us a shot when Romo returns. I absolutely think we should have beat Atlanta and NO. Atlanta is coming off a 6 and 10 season with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. They're not some juggernaut. We had them in the 1st half with what I thought was a decent game plan which actually had me buying into the Garrett hype. Unfortunately, that was short lived.
New Orleans was coming off a 7 and 9 season. None of these two teams were unbeatable. No more than the examples I gave about going 5 and 3 in 2010 with Romo out and what many here characterize as a lesser team which needed gutting. I don't think winning these games was out of the question just because Romo was out.
I guess I missed the point of this thread.
yep I think you said it good.I think most of the people on this board that are complaining are doing as such because we're almost winning these games, but losing them in embarrassing fashion.
I, for one, know that this is a deep and talented team. If we had our stars, we'd be 4-0, comfortably.
I think people are frustrated because we've lost these games for stupid reasons where we could've won them had a few coaching decisions been different. There was absolutely no excusing not calling a time out in OT when our guys weren't set. That could've changed the game.
Well, that's why I'm frustrated anyways. And I'm the biggest Garrett fan out there. That was just a piss poor non time out call.
We're getting these "almost" wins and losing them barely. That's why people are frustrated. We needed those winnable games.
Most of the people on this board are fully aware that the team has the deck stacked against them and are playing against the odds.
I think people would be less upset with blowout losses, honestly.
Losing to NE is no big deal, I just would like to see them not look like bozo's, and not get blown out.
No one expect the current team to beat good teams, but some teams are not any better than dallas is right now, so those games
are winnable. wash, giants , eagles, miami, tampa bay are all winnable, and you might include carolina and seattle too.
Both those games are in dallas and neither team is that good on offense, but they do have good defense.
But by the time we play them our defense should be better too.
Right now they need to open up the offense , and take some chances, coach better and less penaltys.
Losing to the Pats will be a big deal because it will put the Cowboys one game under 500 and riding a 3 game losing streak with the Giants who are looking pretty good and Seattle up next. The years the Cowboys missed the playoffs there was always one game that came back to haunt the team and the Saints loss is sure to come back on them. That was a very winnable game vs a not so good team and with a great Pats team coming up the ceiling looks as if may start falling in on the Cowboys the next 3 weeks. They're staring at least a 5 game losing streak because upsetting the Pats is highly unlikely and beating the Giants and Seattle the following 2 weeks certainly won't be easy. The Cowboys were very fortunate to escape with a win against NY on opening day with Romo for the entire game and Dez for a good potion of it. The Seahawks will be up next and good luck putting up points against that defense without Romo and Dez. The Cowboys season is on the line the next 3 weeks they'll be in a real deep hole at 2-5 with some tough games remaining.
