Wade or Garrett?

We're going to really regret it if we end up letting Jason get away.

But why. I've seen a few say this but why?

Maybe I'm not seeing it. Help me out, what are you seeing that would cause regret?

Because he's a good offensive coordinator with a bright future as a HC.

Very descript. Thanks for clearing it up.

Wade is a better DC than JG is an OC. You keep Wade.

I wouldn't mind seeing Garrett succeed Philips, but if the decision had to made for next year I'd so go with the proven quantity which is Wade.

you know Herring has been there all three years

theres other guys who can run a 3-4 D also

Kieth Butler - Steelers - LB coach
Ron Aiken - Crads - D line
Thomas "Pepper" Johnson
Byran Cox

You are on drugs if you think any of those guys could hold Wade's jock. Consecutive shutouts don't just magically happen. Leading the league in sacks is not just about scheme, but playcalling. None of those guys have ANY experience playcalling, let alone the success that Wade has had IN EVERY STOP he's coached.

Love Garrett, but shutting out the Eagles was a frikkin masterpiece. Here's to Jerry doing what he can to keep Garrett for a couple of more years, but Wade better be the Cowboys' HC next year, he's earned that privilege.

Garrett isn't going anywhere. He's not ready to be a head coach; there are not many opportunities out there; not even enough to satisfy the big name coaches who want back in. He's stuck, if that's what you want to call it.

If I had to make a decision on Wade or Garrett I would go with Garrett.I know what Wade brings to the table and I'm of the opinion that the HC position could use an upgrade.Wade is what he is,he's a coach that has a good regular season record that doesn't translate into post season success.Even if he were to win out this year I don't see him as the type of coach that will have playoff success in back to back years(JMO).I really hope that Wade gets his first playoff victory this year but i'm far from on the Wade bandwagon.

So was Wade a bad defensive coach last yr then? We ranked 20th in points allowed but in the top-10 in yards allowed and led the league in sacks.

What about 2007? We ranked 13th in scoring defense but 9th in yards allowed and 3rd in sacks.

Brian Stewart was running the defense half the time and we also had Anthony Henry at CB... When Wade took over the defense after half the year, they were shredding opponents. The 44-6 blowout was pretty much initiated by the offense and 2 TOs for TDs, as well as floundering offense at the end of the year that consistently went 3 and out.

Don't even forget personell.. If anybody doesn't think Jenkins and Spencer, as well as Scandrick have nothing to do with Wade's eye for talent, then really... The special teams coach and players like Brookings are here because of Wade, not Garrett. And this offense was pretty prolific before Garrett... It's Romo that makes this offense special, though Garrett is improving as of late, thanks to Norv Turner showing him how to run an offense...

And players love Wade...

Surely nobody would argue that yards are more important than points.

Would they?

No but time of possession and marching up and down the field helps the defense too.

Its a whole lot easier to shut out the Eagles when they only have the ball for a 1/3 of the entire game.

I'd rather the Cowboys keep Wade. Once learned, his defense will allow most any competent offensive coordinator to flourish.

TRUTH BOMB JUST DROPPED!!!!

Wade's defense over the last 10 games is giving up about 11 points per game. With a defense like this, you are going to win a hell of a lot of games if your offensive coordinator has a heartbeat.

Hell, Romo could just call all the plays himself at the line and with this defense we would win 10 games a year minimuim!!!!!

Agreed.

If I had to pick one to keep right now, I go with Wade. I them promote WRs coach Ray Sherman to OC and instruct him to give Romo full latitude to adjust plays on the field.

With this defense, Sherman as OC could win us 10 games min.

Hoofbite, you're sig pic cracks me up by the way.

Maybe this is a weird analogy, but how many of the guys who'd stick with Wade over promoting Garrett would also stick with Colombo over Free? There's something to be said for letting a guy develop and having patience with a high-potential candidate. By the end of next season, Jason Garrett might just be a killer candidate to step right into a head coaching gig with four full seasons as an OC under his belt.

Fellas, everybody is forgetting one major issue.......THIS IS A BAD YEAR FOR COACHING CHANGES!!!!

Washington already has Shanny, so that leaves Buffalo as the only team that currently does not have a coach.

Maybe Mangini gets another year in Clevland and maybe Cable gets another year in Oakland, but even if they are fired do you think Garrett wants to go be the HC of some ****hole team like Cleveland or Buffalo??? You think Garrett wants to go work for crazy arse Al Davis and have freaking Jamarcus Russell as his QB???

Garrett is going nowhere, I am 100% convinced that Jerry has already promised him the job after Wade leaves. Why would Garrett not wait if he already has the job in the bag???
