**said there were players who were playing man-coverage when rest of unit was in zone coverage on multiple plays.

** Said pass rush pressure was good on several plays where Campbell was throwing off his back foot and if Dallas was in the proper coverage..they would have gotten more interceptions.

** Wade told Steward at half time that Washington always stays with their game plan (of running the ball) and then Washington goes onto to throw 40 times in second half and this suprised Dallas.

**Wade was bothered because Dallas often had 7 defensive players in coverage against only 3 receivers of Washington (who were max protecting). Said it was a concern.

** Right now Dallas is playing zone because they dont feel comfortable with man coverage yet (i am assuming this is do to Henry injury).

Sounds like some of this is correctable but Wade did caution that what Washington did on offense was not complex and they basically just ran same plays over and over.

that is pathetic, but glad to hear this from Wade because a year ago Zim/Tuna had no answers & were totally lost by their own admission.

we have some dummies on our defense. tuna said as much last year and now Wade too.

at least this shoots down the stats and numbers that might have appeared to spin this as great coverage & the defense doing exactly what was asked of them.

Who on earth would have predicted they'd throw 40 times in the second half?

This is what I said and why I said the Cowboys defensive play calling was the definition of insanity.

Insanity:
To repeat the same actions and expect a different outcome.

The Commanders kept running the same plays, yet the Cowboys didn't really make any changes to the coverage till the Commanders second to last possession. What happen once they switched? Newman got the INT.

He also emphasized that Washington averaged only 6.4 yards per attempt, which is a far more important stat than the 367 yards passing.

well I am not sure about all of that, but I know from watching with my own two eyes, the sideline, the defensive coaches and players were confused and had no idea who was supposed to be in or out and obviously even the guys on the field were confused.

I expect it to be corrected with wade. I have full faith it will be fixed. This is the only time it happened.

If there is one thing Phillips knows, it is how to coach defense in the NFL. I am not worried about the coaching.

I don't think you can ignore what Wade was saying before the season that he didn't know if we had three or four corners that can play. In other words, while he'll never say it, I don't think he believes Reeves is that good a player.

Add a gimpy Henry to that, and it's no wonder he doesn't want to play more man.

But the players have to get the calls right. I have a feeling it won't be the Happy, Gee-Shucks Wade at practice this week.

Basically sounds like we had some mental errors by the players on the field as well as the coaches on the sidelines....?

This is true and I commented about that earlier, but simply switching up the coverage could have caused more punts and/or turnovers and given up less total yards.

What the Commanders were doing was working and the Cowboys failed to adjust until 300+ yards later the second to last possession.

Has Wade ever had a "great" pass defense historically.

I remember last year the biggest knock on SD's defense was their secondary... they were 13th in the league and still went 14-2.

Thats my take.

At least Wade is addressing the issue head on so-to-speak

Yep, as the saying goes. You don't learn much from success, but you can learn alot from failure.

Is anyone concerned that this same problem was said to be the issue on why Ken Hamlin was let go in Seattle?

Players not on the same page.. missed assignments by the secondary... miscommunication that caused holes in the coverage.

dude dont kill me, but I dont think it was hamlin.

Yesterday I saw roy, henry, spencer and watkins confused all day....who was on who was off and what to do when they were on.

[He also emphasized that Washington averaged only 6.4 yards per attempt/QUOTE]

which only means something if Dallas is getting more turnovers on 50 pass attempts...as getting 6.4 yards per attempt gets them a bunch of first downs.

While there are times when players miss assignments and bumble plays, I think they are overall doing a pretty good job. I think the Cowboys dominated this game defensively. The reason the Commanders had so many passing yards, wasn't because of the players, but more of the defensive play calling.

So, no. I'm not concerned with the Ken Hamlin issue.

i would have expected it to continue since they were gashing us for 1st downs and stuffed it right in the endzone with the short passes.

amazing huh.
