Wade PC - coverage

which only means something if Dallas is getting more turnovers on 50 pass attempts...as getting 6.4 yards per attempt gets them a bunch of first downs.
You should familiarize yourself with YPA.

6.4 isn't good. It puts you at 27th in the NFL. Right behind Rex Grossman.

it's also lower than Campbell's season average.

Is anyone concerned that this same problem was said to be the issue on why Ken Hamlin was let go in Seattle?

Players not on the same page.. missed assignments by the secondary... miscommunication that caused holes in the coverage.

Hamlin was getting so much love this last week. I questioned that love. I think we should go in another direction if he wants big money.

So was he saying that it was a mistake that some players were playing zone and some were playing man or that was the defense called?

BIG money? Well, thats relative. One thing is clear to me. Hamlin is the best safety we have, and I was NOT a Hamlin supporter when we signed him.

Getting 6.4 YPA (which would be in the bottom 10 of the league for offenses) won't score a lot of touchdowns unless you somehow manage to complete a high percentage of passes (which usually results in a higher YPA than 6.4). If you're getting only 6.4 YPA, you're going to be kicking a lot of field goals. If the Commanders hadn't been in the position of needing to go for it on fourth down late in the game, they would have had one TD and five field-goal attempts.

With that said, we should have had at least one more interception yesterday and a few more sacks.

I'm sitting here wondering if Hamlin didn't play worse than Roy against the Skins.

On the Cooley TD... Hamlin commits pass intereference just running straight into Randle El. If Cooley doesn't score.. its a PI call on Hamlin.

A good throw and Cooley blows by Hamlin for a TD.

He gave up the Moss TD and committed PI all on the same play. He looked worse than Roy did against Plaxico on the TD in game 1.

He missed a tackle that just looked absolutely pathetic. He tried to throw a shoulder into the ball carrier and completely whiffed.

Roy gave up the 2 catches on their first drive... but outside of that he played pretty well and didn't do anything to really hurt us after that.. in fact he made a play that kept 3 points off the board for the Skins.

Well whats the average yard per carry in the league...I bet it lower than 6.4 yards. Teams dont like to throw as much because it inheritently more risky (sacks, int, etc.) but when a team defense isn't getting turnovers....its not really a bad thing to be throwing 50 times. It appeared to me that Dallas Defense looked worn down and if not for Newman...Washington could have easily won that game with their approach.

Check out the YPA rankings

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/stati...ort=ypa&pos=off&league=nfl&season=2&year=2007

Buffalo is 16th with 6.97 (about the median, I'm not taking the average for 32 teams)

6.4 would put you at 25th.

It was not a great passing day by Jason Campbell against our defenses. He simply threw it SO much that he couldn't help but rack up 300 yards (I would bet 100 dollars that no QB in the history of the NFL has thrown the ball 50 times, and accumulated LESS than 300 yards.)

Holy smokes.

Yes Wade was saying some players were incorrectly playing in man coverage while rest of unit was in the proper zone coverage. He mentioned that if those players were correctly in their zone coverage...they probably would have gotten more interceptions.

While your theory has merit, it depends on what 'big' is. There are other directions Dallas could go; many are not an improvement.

Unless Watkins makes amazing strides it is a puzzle as to how this is supposed to improve in one offseason.

Keith 'Bullet' Davis is certainly not the answer.

Has Wade ever had a "great" pass defense historically.

I remember last year the biggest knock on SD's defense was their secondary... they were 13th in the league and still went 14-2.

you have to remember that they were way ahead in alot of games, and their run defense was outstanding...teams will have to revert to passing then

the difference between the Chargers last yr and us this yr is last yr the Chargers had a far better pass rushing team than we do right now...our DB's should be better than what they had on the field

dude dont kill me, but I dont think it was hamlin.

Yesterday I saw roy, henry, spencer and watkins confused all day....who was on who was off and what to do when they were on.

they all stunk...other than Newman not one defensive guy played well in coverage yesterday...Hamlin had his share of bad plays too

is this a serious question?

talent man...we have more talent at the DB position than they did...Wade even said so himself...now some of that talent has been hurt, but some are just not playing well or playing consistent

This sounds like you are describing the 2007 Dallas Cowboys :)

Well Jammer was a 5th overall pick and Chromatie was a 19th overall pick.

Yes Newman was a top pick but Henry is getting up there in age and has been battling an ankle injury.

Giving up those 22 first downs via the pass really sucked though.

**said there were players who were playing man-coverage when rest of unit was in zone coverage on multiple plays.

That's sorta stoopid to be happening by the 10th game of the season. It's not like there are a bunch of new guys on defense.

how do 3 people get open against 7. I will tell you why...when you are not fast, and you know you are not fast...you play with cushion and with hesitancy and without confidence. Who besides Newman is fast amongst our LBers and Secondary. Ware is fast, but we have him going forward. This team needs more speed in our LBer and secondary in the worst way
