First teo years, he left it to Brian Stewart.. then when he took over, he made it the second ranked scoring defense. Jerry ‘groomed’ Jason, but wouldn’t allow Wade to groom Brian..

And then our incompetent OC continued to struggle and was turning the ball over thirty plus times that year (19 in seven games before Wade got fired) and couldn’t establish any TOP and couldn’t run the ball..

I believe every single team he's joined that missed the playoffs the year before turned around and made it his first year there.

Too bad Jerry didn't give him a real OC who was actually on his side.
 
that is the difference between Wade and Marinelli. Wade found ways to use what he has to get the job done; Marinelli has to have exactly his guys to do anything; and even now when virtually every single defensive player has come here during his time they still cannot get it done.
 
After 2009, we also lost Todd Grantham, our DL coach that Wade brought in. That guy was damn good, and he developed aggressive fronts attacking the gap like Wade preferred.. Ware has 20 sacks one season under him.

Our secondary was our major weakness and blitzing exposed the garbage secondary we had. We had stop gaps at LB with Brookings and Bradie James, the latter was awful in pass coverage.

That was the year Wade drafted Sean Lee.

Jerry blew the 2009 for Roy Williams to help JGs offense and they lost the first pick and they traded down the second.

Just awful personnel decisions at the time.. Wade was ‘gifted’ some serious scrubs..

Preach my brother. Some of these young Cowboys fan don't know all this mess. How our offense use to struggle with JG as OC.

Marinelli blows. Last time his defense was relevant was in the early 2000‘s when people have no idea what A Tampa 2 was. It’s been exposed and slaughtered since then.

Remember 2010 started with that 13-7 loss at Washington where Hall returned the screen to Tashard Choice for a TD :05 before the half from our 35.

That is all you needed to know from Garrett if 2008 didnt do it for you with Brad Johnson

And him hiding his face for three days afterward while Wade took the blame..
 
Wade said in his book that he asked Jerry to give him the time to leave the HC position while winning, but Jerry didn’t afford him that opportunity. Though Wade still praises Jerry for giving him the opportunity and still has respect for him.

Reality is Jerry was just waiting to promote Jason and any changes Wade wanted to make were being stifled if they pertained to Jason’s incompetence..

It’s like karma..
 
Wade had some good defenses here during his tenure. He just wasn’t cut out to be a HC. Apparently his message has a way of growing stale after a few years.

Edit: and fwiw, I would love to have Wade back here as a DC. He ain’t coming back though. Not after how everything went down. Even if it’s offered after Gingersnap is gone.
