Wade Phillips Roll Call

Wade Phillips was my preference for HC.

I think he will do as well as BP and probably a lot better. When you think about it, the other two HCs from Texas did alright.

Here's to DOOMSDAY IV!!!

Parcells got us on the right track...sets up very nicely for Wade taking us to the next level :star:

I see a whole ton of posts on people trying to expouse there view on the hiring so that they can go on record. One thing i have loved about this board is the ability to go back and see what people were saying and call them out when they change their tune.

So you're one of those "you can't change your mind" type of guys?

I might have wanted someone else when the search began, but I'll be behind the coach 100% when the decision is made.

gotta love these guys who like to keep score.

I am happy with the Phillips hire.

I love defense and now I have great expectations for our defense. I expect a lot more sacks and turnovers. I cannot wait to see Ware in this new defense, especially if we can get someone on the opposite side who can free him up a bit.

As for our offense.....I am a bit worried about Garrett flying solo. I think Garrett has the intelligence and creativity to do a solid job....I just feel that experienced DCs might take advantage of his lack of seasoning.

One thing I am hopeful of is that Phillips will bring over the OL, DL, and WR coach from San Diego.

I can accept it. No excuses later, since we had a short list to choose from.

Your not getting a hug so just stop.

I think stuff like this is fun. You are more than welcome to change your mind, ive come to find that people will respect you if you can admit that youre wrong but at the same time its fun to look back a year or two later and see what peoples takes were. Its not like you havent seen over the years people coming in all bluster to have to eat some crow. And its not liek you havent seen people thump there chests at being right. As long as people arent jerks about it who cares.

Its not like anyone is forcing you to post on this thread one way or another.

I gotta tell ya man, this is the first time I've posted an "opposing" thought against you (including the other thread), but I love it. The friendly exchange of ideas is what makes Cowboys fans passionate about the team they believe in. Sometimes I like to play the Devil's Advocate and it's fun to see the reaction.

Keep posting Fuzzy. I like it. Really I do. BTW, any fried chicken or collard greens coming from you? (Think Fuzzy Zoeller [sp?])

I think he's average, he's the safe pick. It could be much worse. Jerry could've handed the job to Garrett or Singletary who have never been more than position coaches and only have 2 and 4 years of coaching respectively. Or heaven help us...Norv.

I'm much more concerned about the guy responsible for talent acquistion than I am Wade. I think he's capable of taking the existing team and winning 9-11 games. I'm not very confident he can take us to the next level though. The main hope in the respect is that this is a watered down league where even a team like the Bears could get to the Super Bowl.

Phillips was my first choice for HC. I wavered a bit as other names came up and I was hoping for a younger guy but in the end I am happy with the hire.

We needed a guy who knows the 3-4 and no one that was available has a better understanding of it than Wade Phillips.

Uh yeah, pretty much that.

Phillips was #2 for me, only because Rex Ryan is younger, but PHillips is more than fine by me

Given the other candidates available, and given the fact that it appears it was down to him and Norv, yes I'm happy with the hire. But if you told me in the beginning of the year Parcells was gonna leave and we were gonna replace him w/ Wade Phillips, I wouldnt have been happy.

With that said, I really don't see Wade Phillips as a SB winning coach... I hope you can pull this up a year from now and laugh at me.

My tune might change a little bit if one of you photoshop gurus could take my sig pic and put Wade's face on there though :)

You are the only person who has brought up a valid point against Wade Phillips - talent acquisition. THis is where losing BP really hurts. He had a knack for it. Jerry and Wade haven't shown a strong ability in this department. Hopefully, Ireland will be able to convince these two which players need to be selected in the draft and help them make good FA decisions.

I support Wade Phillips 100% I think he is just what the team needs right now. He WILL win a superbowl for the cowboys. MUCH better than Norv, who repeatedly had his chance in Washington and failed and was disastrous in Oakland.

Out of all the candidates, I guess he's the lesser of all evils. However, there wasn't much to choose from.:p:

Personally, I would have preferred BP one more year, to wait out Cowher...

Not Wade - I would've rather had Norv but I'm not gonna bash Wade. I think we should at least give him a chance. I am leery of his past and I am concerned with the offense, but that seems to lie in 'ol Reds lap. Hang on to your lugnuts boys and girls, this board may get uglier..........

hmmmm

How soon we forget. Jimmy had a 34-32 regular season record when he won his first SB. Phillips is 45-35 in the regular season as an HC. Let him coach.

Rephrasing a famous quote from our past - If you need 9 or ten wins Wade Phillips will get you 9-10 wins, if you need 13 wins, Wade will get you 9-10 wins. I am glad we have a coach and can now move forward, but I'm not real optimistic he is a championship level coach. Good coach though.
