Your name still gets you a 15 yard face mask if you grab it. Our guys couldn't figure that out.

Wades defense does a few things that make me scratch my head but overall you couldn't ask for a better coach/system to plug these guys into.

I don't want to go back to vanilla defense. I like that we attack. I like that we try to make the offense play to us. I like that we bring it from all angles.

You can have that other crap if you want.

This defense will get better and better as it goes on as well. Its only week 2.

But I know the coach/system is not the problem im sure of that.

You can have your Ted Cotrells and terd nuggets like that. Ill take Wade and his aggresive style any day.

You could ask for a better coach and a better system. We can always improve and they are definitely better coaches. If its not the coaches then its the players and if its the players name them..... I think 8-12 yards off the ball is ridic. The athletes we have at the CB position its silly not to have them at least get closer to line especially if you consider how teams throw underneath more and more.

I remember a defense last year in the playoffs getting stomped on throughout the first half, allowing several 8 minute drives before tightening up in the second and dominating a very good offense for the final 30 minutes. Sure, you could say that that offense just "beat themselves", rather than the opposing defense actually stopping them, since that offense's reliable #2 receiver dropped some huge passes - but that performance is widely regarded as great, gutty, and eventually led to a superbowl championship.

But when our defense does almost essentially the same thing, it's evidence that the head coach needs fired, the defensive coordinator needs fired, and the system needs blown up. The defense didn't "tighten up" you say. The Eagles just beat themselves, dropping passes and missing receivers. Forget that McNabb was running for his life, which frazzles any quarterback. Forget that his escape acts OBVIOUSLY drained him of energy and it showed in his performance on the field. Forget that the defense only allowed 7 yards per pass and 3.4 yards per rush for the entire game.

Wade needs fired. The unwashed masses have spoken.

I love this optimism you must have been one of the guys saying we only play so off the ball because of Reeves blah blah blah keep making excuse when it boils down to it the reflection of our soft defense is shown by the coach. If I was Tnewman i'd just start playing man coverage and get everyone else to do the same.

I do agree that our corners need to play up a couple extra feet but by no means does that mean fire your head coach that does nothing but win.

And no I dont think you can find a better system for the players we have and if you can its the guy whos calling defenses in Pittsburgh and he aint leavin.

I dont guess you were watching this team pre-wade and had to put up with the crap we were doing on defense.

Teams were literally making fun of our scheme.

The Saints lit us up on scheme alone.

We adjust, we attack, we try to put our guys in position to succeed.

trust me I've been watching and I wasn't liking that either. I didn't like BP or his system felt he held our players back that was evident. Now my beef with wade is that we have some great athletes back there sitting in this lame *** zone. Kitna was talking trash about our defense last year also.

Can you make an intelligent response to why you and your like think man coverage is better than zone coverage? Is it more successful? How much more successful? Why is it more successful? Or do you just pick out something and harp on it constantly for no reason at all?

Plus, nobody mentions that in this game we had an injured Roy, so Watkins was playing more than usual, a rookie Jenkins who showed in preseason that he wasn't yet trustworthy in man coverage, and a less-than-100% Newman.

Maybe some people don't realize that you can't play man with some people and zone with others? If the offense spreads you out enough, they can put enough receivers out where every DB is in man. Do you want to take a chance of a long TD with the way McNabb can scramble and extend the play?

We'll play more man to man later in the year when the rookies get more experience and Newman heals up... People just have to be patient. But it's still not a cure-all.

McNabb, Westbrook, and company played pretty well. When that happens, points will be scored.

I like it more because with the pressure we should be generating it gives QB little options and stops those little dump off routes and should force more turn over if we are playing bump and run that would mess up timing at the LoS. You also have to understand I'm not suggesting we don't have safety help over top. However it would be nice to see a CB not playing 10 yards off the Los.....

IDK where to get these numbers from but if you point me into the direction I will find them. Lets point out we have one of the best CB in the NFL if our CB's can't run with NFL WR then why are they on the team??? They should be able to cover these guys....I'm pretty sure if you look at some of newman stats and his YPC you will find your answer. Oh yea the zone worked really well in stoping the deep pass..... o wait....also deep passes take time to develop no team should have that much time with our pass rusher do you not agreE?
