Cowboys dont have 4-3 players either it appears.

Nolan is clueless and his players do not believe in his system.

I think this defense would be a lot better if Nolan did install this very complicated convoluted 4-3 defense.

That does make the player the Cowboys have are 3-4 players. When teams switch from 4-3 to 3-4 it usually take at least 2 years if lucky nefore they are good. Just look at the Cowboys when they did it and how long it took to get good.

Nolan typically takes YEARS to implement his system. The last time he was a DC (2014) Atlanta actually got worse every single season he was there.

He sucked as a head coach but has been nothing short of outstanding as a defensive coordinator. It'd break Nolan's heart but that's ok.

A Wade 3-4 actually has 3 DL (same size as DT in 4-3 alignment) and 2 pass rushers (OLB).

That is a potential 5 players rushing the passer on every down.

But it is the gap responsibilities that is more important than position description.

Wade 3-4 is a 1 gap system like all 4-3 schemes.

Plus Wade is a genius at getting the most out of his defense based on individual players strengths. He can coach the 4-3 just as easily as 3-4.

“We try to fit what the players can do in the defense rather than saying, ‘OK, we’re a 4-3 or we’re a two-gap 3-4,’ ” Phillips said. “We’re a team where if a guy can stunt and rush the passer, we let him do that. If a guy is a power guy, we try to let him be that. It’s all what individual players can do.”

We do have at least two candidates to rush from a standing position in Aldon Smith and Bradley Anae. Gregory would be a third option when he returns. Whether any of them could actually cover? That's another question.

Aldon Smith had more sacks than Ware when he played in a 3-4 in San Francisco. Just saying, the cupboard's not totally bare. I think a stiff like Crawford might look better in the defense he was drafted to play in. Lord knows he couldn't look worse.

You really are getting hung up on fronts.

I played 5-2 in HS and college, that front could easily become a 4-3 or a 3-4 (traditional 2 gap 3-4 or Wade 1 gap 3-4).

You are confusing a traditional 3-4 (like Parcells ran) with a Wade 3-4.

I was thinking that too. Got a lot of 3-4 players for Wade to make use of.
