We all have known for a few days now that Wade is giving the players off on Friday, but I have been really thinking about this and that is a great thing to do yearly, it blew up in his face last year but once again he does it because he believes that his players deserve to spend the day with their families, and I must say I agree with his decision.

These players are Wade's players, this team is Wade's team, and it will be for a long time to come.

He is not only a great defensive mind, he is a great person and people seem to underrate that, why does everyone want someone who yells at the top of their lungs and will have a heartattack next time they eat a cheeseburger? Wade is the type of coach you would want if you were a player, one that truly cares for you on a personal level, he knows his job is on the line this season over the next 2 regular season games and the following playoff games, but he still stood by his morals and gave the players Christmas day off. That earns my respect, and should earn yours.

Discuss Wades connection to the players.

The only thing that bothers me about Wade as a head coach is how he handles losses.

He shows no fight at all. He just sounds so ho hum and defeated.

I've always liked Wade but I think the perception he feeds to the media will be his undoing. It already gets him no respect.

When he wins a Superbowl this season, the perception will become he is calm under pressure, he is just the Cowboys head coach so he gets no respect. Bill Parcells seemed to be immune to that fact.

Wade is a great Head Coach, he has turned our defense into one of the top in the NFL after it being our biggest weakness for oh so long, with a dominant O-line this year in the draft we have the making of the third dynasty of the Cowboys.

You can have a family atmosphere like wade wants to do, but when you dont discipline the team, wait and wait to fix key situations like with the kicking fiasco with Folk with wade saying everything was ok, dont worry. Where did we hear that before? Last year remember! Just like the start of the year, Wade admitted to not working the players enough on blitz run packages, and he had to fix it after the tampa bay game. Then, he had to spend extra time on the pass defense, after the giant game and we got beat due to the pass remember. Sometimes, when you wait and wait to fix things and think things are ok, your just kidding yourself. Eventually it can bite you in the rear end big time!

Just like a head coach sometimes doesnt make too many friends that is a displicianian till the team starts winning games, and its lonely at the top, but more than enough times, the tough coaches that makes the hard decisions of cutting players, trading them or releasing them, eventually that coach has won more super bowls then the family soft type coach, till leaders on the team step up like in 95 when the team leaders led this team when switzer was here.

And we all saw what happened with switzer, we got beat in 94, and then the team collapsed after 95 with switzer coaching.

If the family thing does work and giving the players time off etc works, wil be icing on the cake for wade, but the opposite effect can take effect too. If the Cowboys lose and they shouldnt, but if they do this will blow up in wade's face big time!

Sometimes head coaches have to make tough decisions, thats why they are the head coach, but to me wade waits and waits to do things, eventually that might blow up in wade's face. I hope it doesnt so we can get to the playoffs and win a game or 2.

You asked my opinion and I gave it.

How do you know he doesn't discipline the team? I think he absolutely does discipline the team... he just doesn't hang the laundry out to dry with the media. He handles it internally.

I, too, am not thrilled with his ho-hum approach after losses and would love, sometimes, to see some real fire. But, that said, he has had this team ready to play all year... especially this month. I know we lost to NY and SD but we were in those games to the end and the team was fired up and playing hard.

I think we could A LOT worse than our current staff.

Wade is a good coordinator but a piss poor head coach (IMO).

The biggesy hang-up I have with Wade is his lack of detail.He overlooks the small things all too often.That's been one of the knocks on Wade at every head coaching job he's held.

Sometimes people delay making a decision, until the facts of the matter force a decision. I think that's what happened with Folk.

I think the boat hasn't come in yet. The next two weeks will go a long way in fixing Wade's rep. Everyone loves a winner. Losers are harder.

thats wade's one weakness, he delays to make decisions

1. just like wade said last year dont worry everything is ok

2. then we all saw the disaster with the special teams

3. then we waited for things to get better, and what did he do, he let players off after a loss to arizona and what happened next game, humilating loss against rams

4. then we heard him say that oh, i didnt run the blitz run defense enough in training camp because i didnt want to get people hurt

this is all of my point just like him waiting with crayton to demote him and get a punt returner, after crayton was demoted he took a more serious approach, even some other veteran players woke up, practiced harder;

then wade waited and waited for the folk decision saying everything is ok, i have confidence in him, and you saw what happened

Head Coaches have to make tough decisions and not wait to be forced to make those decisions by jerry jones;

you cant be the head coach and make friends with everyone and be their pal, thats exactly what wade wants to do, but you cant do that as a head coach.

i agree with that in 2 1/2 weeks from now, we will know where we will stand; if we make the playoffs and if we win a playoff game;

thats something this team and wade must do get to the playoffs and win;

i think 2 playoffs wins will get it done as far as turning this team around to winners; as long as we can get to the championship game, i think that will keep wades job and then jerry jones can go get whatever players the cowboys need to get over the hump and to the super bowl like they did in 92 when the cowboys in the offseason after 91, traded for thomas everett and charles haley and got 3 key players for the 91 and 92 draft;

we need some impact players like we got in 91 with alvin harper, russell maryland, erik williams, kevin smith and darren woodson

this team is close, just needs to get over that confidence with winning and a few more impact players and team leaders

we have jenkins, felix jones, d ware, spencer, witten, just need a few more players to push us over the top

Bingo, you hit the nail on the head, Landry for example would have never let the kicker situation go on as long as it did. He would have fixed that in a week or 2 weeks. Same thing for jimmy johnson, he get a new kicker one year, (one day after a game, jimmy johnson was standing next to a kicker and he told him, coach I lost my confidence and Jimmy let the kicker go the next day) a year we went to the super bowl. And that kicker had helped us win some important big games, just sometimes you have to let players go even though you dont want to. Its part of being a real head coach.

Like Landry said one time, to the veteran players reason why he seemed to be so standoffish or like a stone wall, because he didnt want to get close to the players, when he might have to trade, cut, demote or release them.

Thats something you have to do as a head coach. Just like big CEOs in big companies, you have to make those hard decisions sometimes. And dont give me this, men dont cry or thats not me like wade said one time this year. Landry cried in front of the 1965 team and it turned them into winners the next year. All of the players said what unified them was after the 1965 season was over, Landry came into the locker room, broke down and cried in front of the team, told them he had done everything he could to get them to play, study, practice and win. The players said that all unified them as a team after that. They won some big games after that and some playoff games, sure they didnt win a super bowl till 71, but they won some pllayoff games and the players said they started believing and having confidence and winning for Landry and their teammates. Rest was history!

Grown real men do cry in front of people.

I wouldn't bet the farm on Wade being back next year even if he does have some post season success.

Jerry might go ahead and promote Garrett instead of taking the risk of losing him to another team.I just can't see Jerry taking the risk of losing Garrett after paying for his education here in Dallas.If Jerry truly thinks that Jason is the next coach here in Dallas he won't take the risk of losing him.

My biggest fear is Wade get us to the NFC championship game and we lose it by a field goal or something and he gets jipped and Jason gets promoted, I would truly feel terrible for Wade then because honestly Jerry is Jasons biggest supporter, and lone supporter at times (although i'm not far behind I believe Jason will be a great HC) but in the shadow for Wade for a few more seasons won't hurt him.

Again, I agree 100%. Wade isn't a bad coach for the defense but this team needs somebody to coach the whole team. Somebody who's good at doing it. Wade isn't that guy.

I feel like I'm in Limbo with Wade as the HC. I knew he was a bad choice when he was selected by Jed. I never thought he would ever get a 3rd year especially how years 1 and 2 of his coaching tenure went.
