Wake up Jerry and Stephen Jones Get Joe Horn

If you even tried, it would have to be after the first game of the season. Otherwise you're paying his entire salary for the year. Same goes for Terry Glenn.

I guarantee we will not have another WR brought in to play against Cleveland. If we do (be if) they will need time. A week isn't long enough. We will go with what we have unless we have a clear upgrade that shakes loose this weekend. If it pans out poorly in Cleveland, then we might start securing options.

Just a quarter of the season, nothing.

There might not be a reason to go into full panic mode, but if you are not even concerned, that is just whistling as you walk past the graveyard.
quarter of the season? 2 of those 3-4 weeks are before the season even starts....

In here now. dont tell me he's not still better than the scrubs we have behind Owens and Crayton.our 3,4 and 5th recievers are hurt. instead of trading for a backup OG, we should have been trading for a vet reciever. or atleast picking up someone like Horn. dont get me wrong. i do not think Horn has much left. but he's better than our scubs.something has to be done about our WR's.NOW!

disagree

Wow. That made me dizzy half way through. There's got to be a civil rights or UN treaty violation just for putting that up in a public forum.

Somebody pass the Tylenol . . .

Let's not open up that can of worms..

That said, not drafting WR this year = idiotic, anyway you try to spin it.

We tried to go after Hardy but he was snarfed up. Turns out he is problematic off the field. The wide receiver class of 2008 wasn't that great and we had burgeoning talented depth at the receiver position.

Hindsight is wonderful and we knew that Glenn probably wasn't going to be able to physically perform but who knew both Austin and Hurd would get injured as well. Few teams if any can be prepared for multiple receiver loss. The good news is Austin and Hurd should be back sometime in December. So the angst is short term.

I do understand the 'need' for another vet WR because of the injuries.

But if anything I would take Terry Glenn for two weeks over Joe Horn.

Austin should be back by at least week 3 and I think Hurd is back for Week 4.

And just to say it. How many footballs does Romo have out there???

We still have T.O., Witten, Crayton, Barber, Felix, Bennett and Curtis on the field.

The 'offensive world' has not ended for the Cowboys.

.

We aren't getting a vet for 2 weeks b/c we'd have to pay them an entire year of salary to do so.

Not worth it -- we can get by for a couple of weeks

Danny is a scrub

Not only is he a scrub, but not very skilled.

Arena League? CFL? I doubt he could even crack those leagues, much less a Super Bowl-bound team like the Cowboys.

Also, keeping Danny would lower morale because players would sense that he's being kept for promotional reasons other than plain-old NFL-variety skills.

That's funny. It seems others, you know, people that get paid to fill out NFL rosters...disagree with you. Always. Oh, and by the way, he's the most skilled receiver we have healthy behind Crayton right now.

Again, wrong. It seems he exactly that...about to crack the roster of a Super Bowl team like the Cowboys. Sorry it bothers your delicate ego.

That's quite possibly the stupidest thing I've read on this forum that hasn't been ended in 'lol'. Congrats.

You and Brandon are making more of a case for keeping him than you are for getting rid of him...through pure stupidity.

Lets be realistic Amendola is not good. He is PS material, he is physically weak out on the field. He gets taken out the game by a simple jam. He doesn't have the speed to even be a threat. The only reason Amendola even makes the 53 man roster is because of the injuries to Hurd, Austin and stanback. If these guys were never injured he would be getting cut.

Not very skilled? lol.

I didn't see any other guys out there last night returning kickoffs, returning punts and catching passes.

He's not a valid NFL WR, but the kid will find a job in the NFL even if it's not with the Cowboys.

As for the morale thing. I am sure the Cowboys players think Jerry needs that extra promotional push that they would get by keeping Amendola, lol.

That is the silliest thing I have heard in a while. You say this like Amendola is Michael Phelps or something and they are giving him a shot at QB, lol.

LOL. I swear I was writing my post at the same time you were.

Promotional reasons, lol.

He's better and more skilled than any of the other bottom roster guys at WR...but you're right, he's physically over matched right now. He needs to get stronger. Whether or not he would or will be cut is debatable, but no one is vying for him to be on the starting line up...I just simply think he's more of a contributor than the other guys. Ideally, we could put him on the practice squad and have him work heavily with Juraszek for a year...then re assess whether he can play. If he could build himself physically, he could play in this league.

Jerry Jones wanted to trade up for James Hardy in the second round and couldn't get anyone in the room to agree with him.

There goes the theory that Jerry does whatever he wants with a bunch of 'yes men' nodding their heads.

Martellus Bennett is unproven, but he has a ton of upside, Jason Witten considers him to be a future starter in the NFL. MB80 should help us more this season than any rookie wide receiver would have, IMO.

I think Glenn's knees are pretty much gone. Besides even if we took a risk on him short term he just might do another Giants return game rendition of the Paul Simon song "Slip, Sliding, Away'.

New England kept 8 WRs, wonder if there are any trade possibilities there.
