We definitely need to draft some OL and I'd say every year we can. But you can't draft OL if the BPA is clearly not an OL. And they need to play our backups more this year. I understand Flo had injuries but leaving him in the AZ game was probably a mistake. We have to have some backups.

They are flatout terrible. they could not run block or pass block this past season. yet Jerry is doing nothing about it. Flozell is washed up. did you see him in the pro Bowl. he is going to get Romo killed.

I agree the Oline is the by far the biggest lead weight around this team, but we are going to have to fill that position via the draft in my opinion.

If only Flo had a brain he'd be OK, but he does not.
Gurode is the most overrated center in the NFL. Leonard has been average. Proctor should not be on the team.

Columbo is the best of the bunch.

burm is speaking the truth. flo doesn't suck. he was hurt and played anyway. people that think that he should be denigrated becasue he played through three injuries need to think again. proctor OTOH sucked and holland and kosier are still under contract.

I want to see OL to develop behind our 5 starters and not anything in FA.

I agree. We need to bolster the backup units more through the draft. At center we have Proctor backing up Gurode. I know Procotr was bad at G, but C is his natural position. Gurode was bad a G also until he moved back to his C spot and became a pro-bowler. So I'm content with the depth there, but bolstering it through the draft would not be such a bad idea. At G we have Holland to back up Kossier and Davis, but we need another body there. McQuistain seems to be fading in the wind. And at T (left or right) i don't think we have any depth; guys like Free have done nothing to warrant keeping them. So maybe, I'm thinking, Dallas should look for one or two backup linemen in free agency, but after 6/1 cuts or last minute cuts, kind of how they got Holland. That way they can add competition for some of the younger current-bckup guys that are on the fringe of making the '09 roster. And depth through the draft can only enhance that competition.

I dont think there is much to do with the oline. There is to much money stacked for them.

However the oline does need to get shaken up a bit. I've never liked FLo, and Gurode seems like another dumb fat guy. But atleast Gurode stays with his guy. Sure He might throw the occasional Blooper from the shotgun position, but atleast He can hear the call and not get smoked or getpenallized with false starts like they fall from the sky.

The same line that was quite good in 2007. Go back to sleep.

Um.. that same line was the reason for our collapse at the end of the season in 2007 and had Romo running for his life 90% of the time. Nice selective memory tho.

yeah - a trend that is a joke.

Anyone who knows ANYTHING about Offensive Linemen know that being 30 is nothing important. O linemen play quite well into their mid to late 30's.
In this day of the salary cap you do not keep many players after their first contract. We have signed up virtually the entire O line over the last 2 years so no major change is coming. Now depth is a concern which will almost certainly be addressed at the draft.
Like I said- GO BACK TO SLEEP.

I'm so depressed. So much money and so little ability, determination, or both. Take your pick.

I'm not sure why everyone wants to get rid of Kosier. We were at our best with him in and I think there is other ways to improve the O-Line instead of replacing him.

What OL lineman out there are better than Flo right now?? Jerry locked up all the lineman we have now and you expect him to bring in more free agents?

I agree Flo is getting up there in age, but signing another high priced FA is no the answer, lets wait till the draft and see what we can get for the future. This O line will be good enough for now...

DING DING DING......We have a winner.

I just love all the moronic just get rid of Flo talk with no viable solution. Doesn't anyone remember the last 10 games of 2005 after his season ending injury?

Flozell healthy is still a top 5-10 LOT in this league. He aint makin alllll those pro-bowls on rep alone. There is some high quality play there between the false starts and injuries.

With all that said we need OL depth real bad.

Just a few steps I believe could help solve the problem.

Consider keeping an extra OL on the 53 if the talent warrants it. In fact perhaps we should go into this off-season with a plan to do just that.

Still see S as our biggest need. If things broke just right, a S would be BPA at our pick in 2nd round. That's the one spot I truely feel we need a rookie to come in and compete for immediate playing time.

After that I wouldn't mind seeing as many as 4 OL selected. Who cares if only 1 or 2 make the team?

The staff just needs to do what they do. Stack the board with the 50 or so draftable OL. Rank em, weigh em, prode and poke.

We have 10 picks in rds 3-7.

Okay, personnel guru, who do we replace Adams with? If you think Kosier's injury didn't affect the o-lines play then you're misinformed. Not to mention the fact that Flo couldn't use his left arm for pretty much the 2nd half of the season. It's kinda hard blocking speed rushers when you have no way of getting your outside hand on them! Don't blame Adams, blame the f/o for not getting quality depth and Houck for not improving the guys who are here. The fact that we had no other OT who was better than a one-armed Flo is an indictment of them!

One problem. like Mickey says all the time on DC.COM. this line cant run block.when you say run more. what if you are not making any yards. we need to fix this OL.

They run blocked well enough to let Tashard Choice and Felix Jones run wild. They consistently had their way with defenses.

Moreover, Cowboys fans and Jason Garrett seem to forget how running games actually function. Yeah, you might not put up any points right away, but more carries means the defense gets more tired, which makes it easier to stop a passrush. A winded defense generates less pass rush, which makes the passing game easier.

It always starts with the running game.

Barber's struggles were related to his own poor fit as a feature back. You cut his carries down and spread out the workload and you'll see him return to his 2007 level of effectiveness, which will only make Choice and Felix more effective, not to mention our passing game.

To be fair, no OL played well for the NFC team in the ProBowl. Mathis and Freeney were owning all of them.

I really don't think it's about replacing talent, since the same group performed pretty well in 2007.

Best thing Jerry could do to improve the Oline is trade for JOHNNIE LEE HIGGINS JR!! If Romo can get him the ball in less than 0.8 seconds, that's all it takes and he's GONE!! No need for an Oline baby! It's all about JOHNNIE LEE!!:laugh1:

*sigh* sorry...i'm coming to terms with the fact that JLH to Dallas dream is over for this year.

I think with our current salary cap situation that we'd only be able to sign "Ryan Young" and "Jason Fabini" type players to address the offensive line. The starting O Line is pretty much set in stone til 2010 and depth will be added through the draft.

One player that I still have high hopes for is Doug Free. He's entering his 3rd year, so I think this is when we'll see if he's a good player or not. None of us know anything about him because Flo hasn't been significantly injured the past 2 seasons. I know McQuistian has been the thrid tackle, but what if the coaching staff doesn't think Free can play right and want him to exclusively play left and develop as the future replacement for Flozel Adams. I just remember in the draft that Free was a very athletically gifted tackle and I had and still have high hopes for him.
