Even during the Jimmy years when we would pound teams on a consistent basis, I can't ever remember guys like Tony Casillas, or Ken Norton, or Chad Hennings or Russell Maryland, or Tony Tolbert or James Washington EVER talking like this.

Sometimes - you just wish you could dress up and play--

...The Eagles defenders do not lack for confidence in their ability to contain Murray in Sunday's game at Lincoln Financial Field.

Here's some evidence of that from a story posted on nj.com:

Eagles defensive end Fletcher Cox: "They can come out and run quarterback power, zone read, they can run whatever they want to run. We won't let them run the ball."

More from Cox: "We've shown it. We showed it when we played them two weeks ago. We don't want to be like any other defense. The conversation in our room is 'don't let their running back rush for over 100 yards. Keep him under 100. We don't care how many carries he gets, we just want to keep him under 100 yards. We won't change nothing, as a defense. We'll be the most physical team on Sunday. We won't let them run the football on us."

Eagles defensive back Nolan Carroll: "We know we're going to be able to stop the run. We have a great front-four. Once we're able to do that, we know they'll start passing the ball. After that it comes down to executing whatever calls are being played, going out there and having fun."

If confidence is the key to stopping Murray, Dallas has a problem. Sunday will tell.

I sure hope we respond well that Oline need to get mean and pancake these guys and go til the whistle blows, they are certainly getting annoying out there.

Fletcher Cox can say what he wants. He's becoming a great player. Until we beat him down, it ain't bragging.

Fortunately, we don't even have to run the ball well to beat this team if we can get the ball out quickly and over the middle, they can't stop it. And I think it's very much an open question whether or not we can run the ball well. We've run it against better defenses than PHI's in other games this year. There's no good reason to back off of these knuckle-draggers.

I didn't think this was a lot of trash, really. He's just saying it like it's the challenge for his unit. He's not disrespecting Murray, is he? Maybe I need to reread it.

Dallas needs to prove it on the field... In the past 3 years-- we've lost games of this caliber in truly disappointing fashion. We generally have made far too many mental and physical mistakes to win games of this magnitude.

Great teams win under the big lights and on the biggest stages. This game is HUGE. Philly should be confident b/c they just handled us 2 weeks ago. This is going to a an all out brawl, and to their credit-- outside of the Thanksgiving game-- the 2014 Cowboys have demonstrated an ability to win a slug fest.

Our offense needs to set the pace. Period. The defense can't be relied upon. Philly is expecting the run from Murray-- I say we go up there and burn them in the passing game early and often. Start with some play action passing and move the chains-- score a TD or two-- THEN start pounding the run. Last game the game plan was to overpower them in the run game-- and we stubbornly ran against a loaded box.

There are a lot of plays to be made in the passing game. Our biggest advantage in this game is at QB. We have Romo. They have Sanchez. Let Romo air it out, build a lead, and then let Murray and the OL choke them out and demoralize them.

the only good thing dallas has going for them is they will be the underdog. They play better in that role

I like the way he talks. They seem pretty confident they can stop the run. If the Cowboys can run it takes their defense out of it's game plan and screws with their heads. Then go play action. I see Beasly having another big game.

They're confident in their ability in stopping our run as Seattle is in stopping Philly entirely. Success does that.

With that being said I know our Oline will have their best performance of the season on SNF.

Play a good sound game, execute the gameplan like they know they can, and have shown they can.
I think this game will be more about the mental part of knowing they can win. Then the physical dominance will take over.

I see it as more of being positive on what he and the defense can do based on what they did before.

I guess it could be viewed as Arrogance or trash talking...I could also see it being viewed as just being confident.

Which ever reason it came out...it was not really that bad or outlandish considering how much they dominated the run and pass game last time.

Is it arrogance when they already showed they can manhandle us? Sounds more like confidence than arrogance.

They really are chirping in Philly. Cox, Carroll, Barwin, Cole............ but who can blame them? They kicked us in the teeth and we - coaches and players - folded like a cheap suit.

So if you have a problem with the Eagles mouthing off........... kick them right back in the teeth.
