Even during the Jimmy years when we would pound teams on a consistent basis, I can't ever remember guys like Tony Casillas, or Ken Norton, or Chad Hennings or Russell Maryland, or Tony Tolbert or James Washington EVER talking like this.
Sometimes - you just wish you could dress up and play--
...The Eagles defenders do not lack for confidence in their ability to contain Murray in Sunday's game at Lincoln Financial Field.
Here's some evidence of that from a story posted on nj.com:
Eagles defensive end Fletcher Cox: "They can come out and run quarterback power, zone read, they can run whatever they want to run. We won't let them run the ball."
More from Cox: "We've shown it. We showed it when we played them two weeks ago. We don't want to be like any other defense. The conversation in our room is 'don't let their running back rush for over 100 yards. Keep him under 100. We don't care how many carries he gets, we just want to keep him under 100 yards. We won't change nothing, as a defense. We'll be the most physical team on Sunday. We won't let them run the football on us."
Eagles defensive back Nolan Carroll: "We know we're going to be able to stop the run. We have a great front-four. Once we're able to do that, we know they'll start passing the ball. After that it comes down to executing whatever calls are being played, going out there and having fun."
If confidence is the key to stopping Murray, Dallas has a problem. Sunday will tell.
