I know it's just a preseason game and that he played against the scrubs of the scrubs, but Vaughn's play was so much more electrical than the other backs. I would love to see them move him up in the pecking order so we can see what he can do against better competition. In fact, I'd flip the roles for this next game. Davis and Dowdle got the early carries and Vaughn and Luepke the late ones. Let's change it up because we just don't know what we've got at the spot. Nothing is settled other than Pollard.

I haven’t seen this game, but this kid is capable of being an every down back. I think he is going to be a steal.

Deuce looked great, but Davis and Dowdle are JAGs…I’m concerned about who we have to pick up the first down when we need 1 - 2 yards…that is where we are gonna miss Zeke for certain…I’d sign him for the league minimum, even if he’s gained 20 lbs. for those situations alone.

It was hopeless in the first quarter for any running back in the world to succeed. (Or QB, playmaker, etc)

The Jags have a very stout first-string front and they were rolling with it! Meanwhile Dallas was peddling a second-string o-line unit with third-string ability. Can we spell out monster mismatch any more clearly?

Malik deserves a 100% pass by any thoughtful judgment. He looked bad. But he had not chance to look otherwise. And frankly, in that same situation Vaughn (my boy) might have looked worse. Rico and Vaughn showed some juice, but only because they had a sliver of a chance.

You have to think of Vaughn as a completely different species of running back.

He will look like a hopeless child on one play, but make 5 defenders look like hopeless children on the next play.

His stature will be a handicap one play, but a huge bonus the next.

I have a feeling they have been humbling him a little by not playing him until late. He’s had plenty of first string snaps from what I’ve heard at TC. It’s obvious he’s electric. I don’t care about his size. He played against big time competition his whole college career and produced.

Yesterday reminded me of Turpin last PS. He got his reps and exploded and than they said that’s enough.

I agree. I maintain that he has the highest ceiling of any RB not named Pollard on this team. And no one is as agile as he is in tight spaces.

Deuce is the 2nd best rb we have. It is clear. Even before the game last night. If we fail to utilize him week 1 we are failing him,the team, and the fans. He needs at east 10-12 touches a game to be effective. He is a game breaker when teams are gassed in the 4th. Rico Dowdle isnt that.

exactly right. He made a living that way at KSU. He broke records, made Bama look silly. Some plays he will get easily handled, others he might take it the distance in a wink. Then again, wasn't Barry Sander like that? Just sayin. They are similar. Barry had much more power I think in his trunk area, base. Huge thighs for a little dude. But they do play similar.
