He didnt have to because he juked them out if their shoes. Thats what deuce does.
Yes, that's what he does. When he had to try to power through tackles, he did not. It was only a small sample, though, and I'm not sure even a bigger, stronger back would have escaped those tackles.

That's part of the reason I want to see more of him against better competition.

And what happened to zeke when he had to run past a defender? Didnt happen. Its not what deuce does.

hes not a power back. hes slippery.

hes going to juke you, not run through you.

zeke is gone, let it go.

He's going to be a menace at the second level. He's not going to try to run people over. He's going to run past, or by defenders. Using those cat like moves. This is what I was hoping for when Dallas drafted him, and I looked at his tape. It's still early, but I have confidence.
Me too....I do think he'll get caught by NFL DB's a lot more than he did at KSU but so what? By the time they run him down he's 8-20 yards or so down the field.

I did not once bring up Elliott. He is your obsession.

He escaped the grasp and hand tackles. He didn't power through anything. I didn't see the ability to put his head down and bull a defender for positive yardage. Doesn't mean he can't do it, but I don't think he showed it.
What did you expect? Earl Campbell?

Running the ball is also a potential for turn overs. The simple mechanics of handing off the ball changes. Pollard is 6'0. A much bigger "bread basket". Duece comes in and the ball placement is much different. Dak has to consciously be aware of this. Yet another thing for him to consider.
2 fumbles in college makes me think you're reaching on this one.

This is promising from today's final padded practice:

A large portion of running back reps were given to Deuce Vaughn on Wednesday as the hero from the preseason debut saw more designed runs and passes go his way to finish off the last padded practice in Oxnard. Vaughn's evolving implementation into the offense both with the first and second-teams should increase the confidence of the rookie out of Kansas State for his future role in Dallas. (Nick Harris)

I know it's just a preseason game and that he played against the scrubs of the scrubs, but Vaughn's play was so much more electrical than the other backs. I would love to see them move him up in the pecking order so we can see what he can do against better competition. In fact, I'd flip the roles for this next game. Davis and Dowdle got the early carries and Vaughn and Luepke the late ones. Let's change it up because we just don't know what we've got at the spot. Nothing is settled other than Pollard.
I’m a huge Deuce fan!
