Sorry, guess I should've been more clear.

I should apologize to the Washington Post for associating them with the crappy local football team. :D

But really, I can see ExtremeSkins getting all giddy with these quotes of 3-techniques and so forth. Blah... None of that is new. And we (Cowboys fans plus T.O. and Glenn) will take more man-to-man all day long!

Their QB is below average. Their offensive line is horrible. Their receiving corps is one guy. Their defensive line is horrible. Their linebacking corps is mediocre. Their corners pretty much suck. Their "star" safety just came off one of the worst years of all time for a defensive back and the other safety is a rookie (who I always considered overrated, or at least not worthy of a top 10 pick).

How can you really say this is a very good roster?

Um...we have had a top 5 offensive line the last two years. The only player we lost is Dockery who isn't that great anyway. Get your facts straight.

No, you haven't, homer... you haven't even had a top ten offensive line...

Last year, the Skins ranked 14th in total offense, 10th in yards per play, 16th in first downs per game... in 05, it was 11th in total offense, 12th in yards per play, 15th in first downs per game...

Chris Samuels was your only Pro Bowl offensive lineman both years...

If you really did have a top 5 offensive line, those stats would have all been in or near the top 5, and you would have had more than one Pro Bowler... the Boys had two Pro Bowl offensive linemen last year, and you don't see me claiming that theirs was a top 5 offensive line...

The only player we lost is Dockery who isn't that great anyway

Ain't it strange how every player who plays for the Skins is great, right up to the moment they leave the Skins, then they suddenly, magically become spares??

If you thought that Dockery "isn't that great", you're gonna LOVE watching Todd Wade try to play guard... or maybe it will be the immortal Will Whitticker, the Washington Post just had an article RAVING about him, talking about what a "revelation" he's been in offseason workouts... how you can be this great revelation without even having seen any live action, I can't quite figure out...

All I know is the guy was a 7th round draft pick by the Packers back in 05, and actually started 14 games for them his rookie year (of course, the Pack didn't have a particularly good offense)... he was sooooo impressive for them that when he suffered a hamstring injury in training camp the following year, rather than put him on IR, they cut him... he then signed with the Dolphins (suggesting his hamstring injury wasn't THAT serious), stayed with them for a month before THEY cut him, too... never got in a game for them, and they weren't exactly loaded on the offensive line... and for the rest of that season, his phone didn't ring... no team wanted him on their roster...

Now, suddenly, he's a possibility to start at Dockery's old position?? Yeah, if I was you, I'd be REAL worried about Dockery's replacement... I suspect the season won't be too far advanced before you find yourself suddenly wishing you had Derrick back in a Skins uni...

It's gonna be real tough to take you seriously if you keep on talkin' this kind of homeristic crapola...

What do you mean by 'top five' OL? In other words top five by what criteria?

I haven't created any ranking system, but Washington has been in the top 10 in rushing yards and sacks allowed for the past two years.

Of course, I don't know how not great Derrick Dockery is, but Commanders RBs were run-dominant to the left side last year, and washington's mid-and left side blocking successes (FO.com) were some of the best in the league, whereas their runs off left end, right tackle and right end were among the worst in the league - suggesting the actual poor play is coming from their tackles and TEs.

Well they are not top five in anything right now except for worse defense and least draft picks.

Their fan base is running two to one; that's optimistic to the point of thinking they will go 11-5 and advance to the NFC Championship game and some to the SB vs one of the worst teams in the league.

Methinks the latter fans have had less Koolaid.

Anything seems to go in the NFL these days. But I'd bet on Washington finishing last in the NFC and getting to .500 at the best.

They've done nothing on the DL where they were among the worst in the league at getting pressure. Not a lot at LB with poor tackling reigned. CB isn't anything to brag about. They did get Landry. I like their QB, RBs, TE but that's not going to get them to the playoffs. JMO.

I like our chances much better.

Maybe a top 5 OL. The Seahags are dropping, Kansas City is a shell of itself...after teams like Indy, New England, and Denver, who else are you putting up there? I guess New York, maybe.

They're just not drinking as much of that "this is the same team that was two plays away from the NFCCG two years ago". Because maybe they realize, it is also the same team that went 6-10 last year and attempted to set records for futility in rushing the passer.

I see a scenario of perfect health, and perfecet defensive execution wherein they challenge for a WC spot. I don't think they have enough talent to handle any adversity.

I believe their roster has the talent to get them to the playoffs. I think their problem is the assistant coaching, and their depth is atrocious. RB seems to be the only position where they have solid depth.

When you have such a pathetic pass rush its very hard to see how their D could ever be good enough to help them to theplayoffs. And its not like their offense is going to be able to carry them.

I love how much money they are paying co-ordinators with 20+ years football experience to go back to their middle high scheme so the poor players don't get lost.

BTW, wasn't the big Arrington complaint that he was too aggressive and didn't play within the scheme?

Their DL is horrible. Cowboys fans know a horrible line and they have one, lol.

Run blocking is pretty good. Pass blocking not so much. Their linebackers are pretty average.

run blocking was def very good the second half of the season, with a healthy betts.

i believe they only gave up 19 sacks in 2006- 3rd best in the league.

and i love marcus washington and london fletcher-baker. they are both excellent LB's by anybodys measuring stick. we'll have to see about rocky.

Unless Campbell goes through significant improvements, I don't see them doing anything. They didn't address their biggest problems on defense. And it's not like Campbell is going to go from sucking to above average this quickly, though I do think he'll improve.

campbell sucked? meh.. not saying he's the next tom brady, but i think he'll be pretty good- maybe very good. and i would absolutely say so if i felt otherwise. for a guy running that O, and after 7 games, i thought he did some good things.

as for the loss of dockery, i think they wont miss much, if anything. he did play well the last 7 games or so, but the skins O line was pretty good the year before when he was considered the weak link. not sure if wade's the answer, but dock was still our 4th or 5th best O lineman. i'd be much more worried if it were any of they others they are trying to replace.

and the D- i'd be shocked if they were anywhere near 31st in the league. 18 months ago, this D line was outstanding. they arent any younger, but if they can stay healthy, they'll be fine.
