i dont think Taco is going to be a daddy and consistently demand double teams, and most probably not in 2017.
looks like sheldon richardson, former defensive rookie of the year, is still being shopped.

sounds like they only wanted a 3rd round pick.
now that 2017 draft is over, we could offer a 2018 3rd round pick.
if he pans out, 2 years of franchise player can be exercises and it would be even cheaper than a major FA contract.

Glad they didn't give a third, even thought I want him.

Franchising him twice sounds like a terrible idea though.

if he demands a double team consistently, a 3rd is a bargain.
franchising him twice would get the best of his prime for much less total dollars than a big contract.

Probably. I'm just happy with a steal of a DB at a bargain rate. as far as franchising, doesn't it increase pretty considerably if you do it a 2nd year in a row?

Taco is a Rod guy. Period. Not too flashy, goes to work, gets it done. I'm surprised people are still wondering why we picked Taco.

Maybe he sees a bit of Simeon Rice in him? (Rice was much faster 4.6 to a 4.9)

At the end of the day, we killed this draft. Be happy

How would Richardson fit as well? We've got 11-12 guys. Plus our 7th round guys have consistent motors unlike Richardson at half the cost

2nd year of franchising is more $, but still cheaper than a large FA contract because it would cover the remainder of his prime (3 years total including $8M for 2017-2018).

it is pretty obvious why we picked taco - he was the best DL available with no trade up.
atlanta jumped 5 spots trading a 3rd and 7th to take Tak over us.

richardson is more talented than any players on the DL, so you obviously cut the bottom one.

Lol you really need to let this Richardson fantasy go. He's not coming to Dallas and that's a good thing.

Dude's an idiot.

dude is more talented than any DL we have.
word is dallas and Commanders were talking to jets about him.

The Daily News has learned that Washington and the Cowboys were among several teams that had trade discussions with the Jets over the past couple days. The sticking point for serious suitors was Richardson's fully guaranteed $8.1 million this season (on his fifth-year option), according to sources.

8 million for a one year rental? No thanks.

I like Collins upside much better at the 3 tech. People are discrediting how well Collins play as a rookie! Kid is a stud

if he is any good, you can easily franchise him for 2 years.
you could play him and collins together on passing downs.

So 16 million a year for a DT?? You're falling in love with the old Richardson not the recent head case

you pay 8M for 1 year.
if he is good, then you are golden and the problem was the Jets organization.
if not, then try to draft/sign a daddy in 2018.

That's the going rate to franchise him ... about 16 million of you want to keep him

What I heard on one of the SIRIUS NFL shows was that the Jets were to the point of accepting even a 5 or 6 for him, given his injury risk, his contract, and his suspension risk. They also indicated that even if you were to trade for him, it would likely be on a one year deal because he wants to hit the market as a FA. Summation: sounds like he's not worth the trouble/cost/risk.
