I don't understand this. the taco criticisms were that we need a dominant edge rusher with speed and tenacity. I'm on board with the pick, but mostly because I think he's a great player, good kid, and Rod wanted him. Doesn't change that some of the more specific things we were looking for don't particularly describe him. Richardson on the other hand plays a different position and is dominant at it.

taco seems like a nice player with a 2nd round rating.
richardson already demonstrated his talent, and may be screwed up by the Jets, and thus why he could be had in a trade.

He is a big reason why they are so dysfunctional

i dont know.
both richardson and wilkerson, both super talented, were screwed up as Jets.
you throw in the QB mess they created, then it seems the organization was more at fault.

i am giving him half of a pass given the jets' track record of screwing good things up.
he did get suspended for 4 weeks?
but that was 2 years ago, so he is not another gregory.
Roger that. I guess staying out of trouble for two years should count for something. He will hit FA next year. Is he a player you would pursue in the open market? All depends on the price, I guess.

We do not need another primadona defensive lineman that is talented but trouble. Are you guys forgetting Greg Hardy? How did that work out?

you are comparing an unproven rookie to a former defensive rookie of the year.
most drafts are not going to turn out like 2016.
That's a fair point. We hope that our rookies do well but being rookie of the year means you were pretty much a stud

What I heard on one of the SIRIUS NFL shows was that the Jets were to the point of accepting even a 5 or 6 for him, given his injury risk, his contract, and his suspension risk. They also indicated that even if you were to trade for him, it would likely be on a one year deal because he wants to hit the market as a FA. Summation: sounds like he's not worth the trouble/cost/risk.

So you're telling me he is on his contract year and we can get him for a 6th. I'd be all over that.

Scandrick for Richardson.

Our War Daddy will have to be Jaylon Smith.

drawandstrike

saye You're seriously claiming there were SIX guys as good as Charleton for a pass rushing 4/3 DE at #28 in this draft?

First of all, Willis and Bowser are OLB'ers, not DE's. Bowser at 6 foot 3, 247 and Willis at 6 foot 4, 255 are much smaller than Charleton who is 6 foot 6, 277.

247-255 are plenty big for RDE if they have the explosive first step
they wanted to start gregory who was less.
