I watched the Replay last night and I noticed that Ware was getting too far upfield on his rushes. He was coming off the edge and his initial push was taking him past the QB and he was ending up a couple yards beyond the play. He needs to develop some power moves to the inside or a good spin move to go along with the speed rush. If he could show that speed to the outside and have a good change up move where he would burst back inside the tackle then he will be in the QB's face a bunch.. It'll come he's just a pup..

there was one play where it looked like he tried to bull rush roaf.... his initial push was ok but Roaf decided he didn't want to be moved!!!! :laugh2:

Wow, though I'd certainly noticed Ware contributing and making things happen, those #s really tell an important story. A story that the fantast FB morons don't get.

It's interesting to compare DeMarcus Ware's first six games to his past seven games. Here are his stats, according to the Cowboys' defensive coaches --

GAMES 1-6
4.0 sacks
3 quarterback pressures
3 tackles for loss (minus-4 yards in losses)
15 total tackles

GAMES 7-13
0.0 sacks
14 quarterback pressures
6 tackles for loss (minus-12 yards in losses)
36 total tackles

Although he hasn't had a sack in seven games, he leads the team in pressures over that span (Ellis is second with eight) and has added six more TFL. Nobody else on the team has more than three TFL for the entire season. And he has more than doubled the number of tackles per game he's been in on, compared to the first six games. Also, two of his pressures in Games 7-13 resulted in interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. (He had a third QB pressure that created an interception, but it was wiped out by a penalty.)

Howie Long mentioned that getting 10 pressures or so a game is alot better than just getting 2 sacks(and nothing else). The Jags got 3 sacks on Eli's brother in their last game, but couldn't put any pressure on him outside of that whatsoever.

Yah-any QB will tell you that when you at least pressure the QB, you rush his throws/decision making.

Thats something I noticed earlier this year, He bull rushes and the guard just pushes him outside the pocket and lets him run up the field all he wants. He ends up about 5 yards behind the QB when this happens. He really needs to learn the swim and duck inside move or spin or something. What happened to LT coming down and working with Ware? he will be good, but hes got some stuff to work on. Hes starting to project himself as a force. I was tickled when Iread KC was changing schemes to account for Ware. Thats respect. hes not far off now. The next Manster!

Good stuff Adam. As I said before, Ware needs to get together with Haley and learn from the master.

One thing about Ware I'm most impressed about that goes unnoticed is his run defense. Outside of the Chiefs game in recent games, no running back has been able to run around Ware.

When the RB tries to bounce it outside, Ware always sheds his blocker and catches the RB for no more than a 3 yard gain. His chase-down speed is amazing.

His speed forces RBs wider than they want, and more east-west than north-south means less positive yards gained.
