Who do you like? I wasn't impressed by Burden's production, tape was better but not stand out. Size/athleticism seemed ok but not great.

Egbuka I like better. But a weak class means they get drafted higher. Both probably go around where BTJ went last year and neither is near the same level of prospect imo.
You gotta look past just the production with Burden. His offense and QB were awful this year. Traits are electric. He also had big production the year prior when the team was better.

Listed most of the guys I liked in original post.

there are a couple here that would help us and not be too expensive

you are hyped on taking a WR high and frankly considering the team situation that is dumb
Yea, I mean that list is essentially exactly what I referenced though. A bunch of older players on the decline and / or coming off of injury.

I’m hyped on improving one of the biggest weakness’ on the roster and taking a WR early bc the position isn’t deep like others are. I’d like to maximize value in the draft.

If you disagree, cool. I won’t even call you dumb for disagreeing.

Especially in relation to our major needs at WR, RB, DT and LBr. Seems like a good trade down year if we don’t like what we see at 12.

WR - I’d prefer to go WR early bc the class is thin at the top…but I think there have been some solid day 2 options that have emerged. Guys like Golden, Ayomanor, Williams and Harris seems to be solid potentials. Bond is the wild card - round 1 ability but might be some off the field issues.

RB - pick your flavor of ice cream…there are like 10 dudes that I think could come in year 1 and crack 1000 yards. My preference is to bring Rico back and bring in someone that can give us more juice for chunk plays. Henderson, Harvey, Sampson etc would be my preference.

LBr - I think Marist showed enough down the stretch that he can be our Mike moving forward but he also has the flex to play. I think Campbell is LB1 but Schlesinger is a stud and I wouldnt be surprised if some teams have him higher. If Marist sticks In looking for a DMo type that can fly to the ball, get sideline to sideline and add more speed to the defense. Carter, Bassa and Mondon appear to fit the mold.

DT - Best class I can remember in the last decade. I’d be open to a few guys in a trade down but I think the 2nd round is the sweet spot.

CB - weird class…a lot of 1st round talent but a lot of guys coming off injury. Might see a few slide to the 2nd.
I agree it's shaping up to be good in our need areas, but losing that 4th rd pick is huge. Fine trading back and getting that pick back if not higher.

Let’s package them comp 5ths and move up into the 4th!
Jerry said last year, teams wanted a future 3rd to jump back into the 4th rd. I have heard that in the past with future picks. Only way that makes sense is to trade back like last year. Need a team who will overpay for a certain player like Detroit did last yr for Arnold.

I really would like to see either Diggs or Cooper signed to a short-term type of contract. This would allow the Cowboys to address their biggest draft needs.

They might kick tires on those guys…but I’d much rather prefer fresh legs than old legs.

There are a couple there that would do well for us and neither are injured or old; and there have to be more out there a lot better than what Jethro just spent a fourth on.

WRs are not great value. Just like RBs. This happens to be a year when it is better to get a RB in the draft and a WR in FA

So who specifically from that list do you think moves the needle for us that isn’t older or coming off an injury?

And WR is one of the highest value positions in football…dudes are making $20+ mil now. Good RBs make less than half of that most of the time.

And how many of those highest price WRs have rings? Tell me that.

Brown of KC and Brown of the commodes might be good options for WR.

as lousy as this class is with WR it would be stupid to go there first.

Well…looking at the remaining teams in the playoffs Philly, Detroit, LA and KC all have spent significant resources on weapons.

I think it would make sense to try and copy the teams that have much better rosters than us.

Hollywood Brown can’t stay healthy and I don’t even know who the Commanders Brown is so he’s probably not helping much.

Ah, gotcha. I just don't think I'm going to see Burden as a top of round 1 guy. The rest of that list feels like 3 or later to me. Just not a lot of guys that can check all of the boxes and with the league always looking for WRs feel like they'll be over drafted.

We have traits guys to develop. If we're competitive I'd rather trade for a vet at the deadline but I could be dead wrong on Burden and others. Overall not a good WR class at all though.

Fair enough, respect your opinion.

I’d just disagree in thinking we have traits guys to develop. IMO Tolbert is not good enough to be a #2 and then we have a bunch of late rounders / USFAs.

The guys I’ve referenced have significantly more upside to be a high end #2.

RB and DT is the strength of this class which is good as that is two of our worst positions.
Two DTs and a RB in the first three rds would be good for me.

WR SHOULD be addressed in FA.
That probably means they will be the two positions we don't draft.

I think Egbuka has some Justin Jefferson vibes. That’s not to say Egbuka is bound to be arguably the best wide receiver in the game, but highlighting the fact he and Jefferson were not unanimously as WR 1 types and had questions about their athleticism prior to the draft.

I think Egbuka is going to surprise some folks with his all around testing and how he ends up as a pro in the right situation. He reminds me a bit of Chris Godwin.

It’s kind of a lazy comp but I’ve always said Egbuka is basically a faster version of JSN but doesn’t have the same lateral agility.

He’s one of the safest players in the draft IMO…just a pro ready dude that has a very high floor. He might not have a ceiling as high as a guy like Burden but I see him as almost bust proof.

Zero concerns taking him in the 1st in a small trade down.
