Dez grabbed three passes for two TDs (37 yards) in the first half of the game. Those totals remained the same at the end of the game.

He didn't register a catch in the entire second half of the game.

By comparison, Laurent Robinson was targeted 10 times by Romo (just 5 times for Dez).

I think a lot of that had to do with how the Lions were playing Robinson and Bryant respectively. However, I am of the mind you get the ball into your best receivers hands.

Was Dez shutdown by the Lions or ignored by us?

dez bryant is the best first drive WR in the league... the remainig 95% of the game he's nowhere to be found (not sure who's fault that is)

Romo missed him on one big play in the 4th quarter where he got behind the defense. They just didnt have the ball much in the 2nd half with all the turnovers.

...they brought a safety over the top alot AND his quad probably tightened up. The ball goes to the open receiver per Tony....not always a receiver with THIS on his helmet::star:.. but it does go to the open 'receiver' regardless:rolleyes:

I know I will be roasted for saying this -- I'm starting to wonder if Dez is having trouble getting himself open.

He clearly is going to win the majority of the jump balls, however, in the NFL getting open is as much about running precision routes as it is out-muscling the defender.

Tell that to Calvin Johnson.

Speak your mind.

Dez was not running very well today - you could see it on the deep ball Romo threw to him. Dez didn't have the extra gear to get it.

The Cowboys left Calvin Johnson one-on-one for most of the game because we were sending blitzes. But the Lions readjusted to take advantage of Megatron.

Besides, I think Matt Stafford is more certain that Calvin Johnson is going to be where he should be. I don't know if Romo is 100 percent certain Dez is going to be where he should. He's still learning the position.

Dez was open a few times in the second half but he didnt get looked at for some reason.

I don't know the answer to that but I know this. I'm concerned how our qb has 47 attempts in a game that at one point we led 27-3.

Now I love garrett as an hc, and I know its not always popular to question his genius, but I'm very aggrivated by the play calling. 47 attempts is to many any weekend but especially in a game you have such a huge second half lead in.

That coverage (or lack thereof) by Newman in the endzone against Johnson was pathetic. Play the freakin' ball, jam him at the line. Instead, what do we get? Newman dropping back into the endzone, Stafford makes the simple lob; touchdown.

In regards to Dez and Romo...spot on. Folks don't want to hear it, but Dez is not anywhere close to being a complete receiver at this point. He's more like dangerous weapon. It's hard for people to decipher that because Dez still finds a way to be successful, which is a credit to him. But if you notice, the Cowboys run Dez on very simply routes; a slant, a go, and a jump-ball fade.

Despite all that, I still think the Cowboys have to get him the ball.

We have to pass unless we want to go 3 and out over and over again. Our OL is not good enough for us just to run it at the opposition.

The problem isn't that we threw too much but that Romo made too many mistakes.

There's already another very long thread on this point.

I really hope its the quad just tightening up and it limits his ability to have his normal burst. If not, we could have a problem. By the time the NE game comes around, we should have our answer as Dez should be 100% by then or pretty close to it.

Dez clearly isn't in shape, nor would I expect him to be with all the injuries that have kept him from working out but the guy just has to stop jawing after every play with the defense, spends more energy doing that than running his routes, just get back to the huddle and get ready for the next play..
