Was Gallimore a healthy scratch?

They moved on from Ridgeway quickly, funny they haven't snagged a 1-tech off a practice squad. Maybe a very rare commodity as we see here,

Neither Hill nor Gallimore are that great against the run. Bohanna and Watkins are the run stoppers. Gholston seems to have some ability in that area as well.
Actually, none of our DTs are great against the run. My point was Gallimore is better at it than Hill.

Not quite, seems like he had a small injury and didn’t get the work in practice staff wanted to see to feel like he was ready. So Hill got the nod.

Why did the numbers change as to where it would have to be one or the other though is my question.

Because they resigned Carlos Watkins to stop the run.
Dallas has the deepest DL in the NFL so this will continue all year IMO.
They essentially MUST bring the 5 DE every game: Micah, Fowler, DLaw, Dorance, Sam.
Those guys are all just too good and DLaw and Dorance play inside some.

So DT is shorted.

So we struggle to stop the run and our coach thinks playing Hill over Gallimore is a good idea? Im sticking with it was the wrist because Nothing else makes sense

Ya Hill is our worst run defender. I rewatched the Eagles and Bucs games and he was pancaked in both games by guards.

I saw Ridge in the game for the WC last week. He is awful. He is very raw and slow. He is best suited as a goal line guy stuffing the run. I wouldn't want him on the field at all other than that. He was and is a liability otherwise. Plus he is a hot head. I see why we cut him fast after we got a load of this dudes act on and off the field. This was one of my favorite draft picks too. I am very disappointed. Will missed on this 1.

Ridgeway is active and getting snaps with Washington who has two of the best DTs in the NFC, but he was inactive with Dallas and their squad of average DTs. I think the Cowboys made a mistake exposing Ridgeway on waivers but we'll see how he turns out in a year or two.

Let's hope we pick up a monster DT in the next draft. It would boost our DL significantly. :flagwave:

No. We brought up Watkins to take Gallimore's spot. Pay attention

Dallas has the deepest DL with only 1 decent DT.

See, as long as you rotate a bunch of stiffs that makes you crazy deep.

Right.

Because up until he wasn't out there, he looked like probably the best DT on the field. So, yeah, that doesn't make sense.

No, you didn't read the OP. You pay attention.

Missing a card.

Ridgeway was trash.

And they handled him correctly, imo.

Yes. Exactly this. When I say our DTs suck I mean the group. Osa doesn't suck. He just has nobody else around him.

Yes, Osa is really the only legit guy we have inside, but I'm concerned he s fading after a nice start, as he did last year. Gholston is showing some promise. Gallimore and Hill are Jags, as is Watkins. Bohanna doesn't even belong in the league.
Our D is really good. We can pressure QB's like no other, and that helps make our defensive backfield look better than it probably is.
But our achilles heal is still run D. Staggering as this was so evident last season (and for many seasons in fact), yet we did nothing in the offseason to address it, either by draft or by FA. We have exactly the same players inside at DT and LB as we had last season.
I think there was hope that with Osa and Gallimore you had 2 legit guys, plus a few jags, and the unit would be good enough, but Gallimore has been a huge disappointment.
One of the many reasons I hated moving Cooper for peanuts was that we then used a high pick at WR. I really liked Travis Jones in the draft, thought he was the kind on 1T we needed, and he went in the 3rd round. He's playing solid (not spectacular) right now. I also wanted Wagner bad (currently the #1 rated LB in the league) at a cap hit just slightly higher than LVE or Barr.
I think that combo Jones and Wagner) would have solved the run D dilemma, plus, let's face it, our wideouts are having trouble getting open, and Cooper beats guys off the line and gets open.

.....solid post, thus the trade for Hankins who'll get plugged in and Gallimore will be out or Hill will be.
