Was JG even in the building when Paul Alexander was fired?

Jesus you guys will try to read into anything.

They'd already decided he was gone, and Jason probably was visiting with Houck, who has lived in CA since his retirement.

You guys just have to get your heads collectively around the fact that Jason is the coach of this team and that he's got an impact directly on all the big decisions that get made. These fantasies where you try to rationalize how that might not get the case are pure silliness.
I was just about to post the same thing .. this decision was very likely already made days ago.

In hind sight it is hard to believe JG would fly to the world series if they were planning to fire their OL coach. Wouldn't you be back working with Colombo and bringing back Hudson Houck?

It might be a critical error akin to Romo going to Cabo

Actually having him out of town is a blessing. I think the Cowboys were able to accomplish something worthy. Now if they can only fire him.

I think it's probably best if Jason wasn't in the building. I don't think Alexander would have taken it very well with Jason clapping while telling him he's fired

Jerry on phone to Garrett: "So Jason, just wanted to give you a call and a heads up that we fired Paul Alexander"

Garrett: "Ok Jerry, no problem, special teams coaches are a dime a dozen, we'll find someone else."
L....O....L............

If the decision had already been made as you suggest, it should have been announced at that time. Managers plan for the future, not the past. Delaying a decision of this magnitude only furthers the odds news will be leaked causing the organization embarrassment . Not to mention the affected individual.

I’m betting conversation with houck have been going on well before the bye week
He’s retired, getting him to come back and work with Colombo was probably more than a 10 min conversation

The Jones clan were in the islands when FA started so who cares. You can communicate from anywhere easily nowadays.

Who says it wasn't made then? That's my point. Fans seem to think things happen when they hear about them, but that's rarely the case. The decision to fire him was likely made before the practices after the last game and he was likely informed then.

I'm not a Garrett fan and have been critical of the front office for ages, but making it sound like the decision was made on a Monday after a bye week while Garrett was gone is really reaching.

Some business decisions need to be made as soon as they're decided. Terminating an employee is one of them. Jmo

You are not reading any of my posts. I said the decision was likely made days ago AND the coach was likely informed then as well. Just because we didn't hear about it until yesterday doesn't mean the decision happened yesterday or Alexander found out about it yesterday.

Alexander uses a different blocking scheme than most other NFL offensive line coaches so the best time to replace (not just decide, but actually replace) him during the season would be right after the last game before a bye week so the team has time to get a new blocking system implemented and practiced heavily by the players.

video teleconferencing, video chat, it wasn't like JG was in phonebooth on the side of a busy street listening in and giving his reason. Its 2018 it is not longer a personal society.
