Was JG even in the building when Paul Alexander was fired?

You are not reading any of my posts. I said the decision was likely made days ago AND the coach was likely informed then as well. Just because we didn't hear about it until yesterday doesn't mean the decision happened yesterday or Alexander found out about it yesterday.

Alexander uses a different blocking scheme than most other NFL offensive line coaches so the best time to replace (not just decide, but actually replace) him during the season would be right after the last game before a bye week so the team has time to get a new blocking system implemented and practiced heavily by the players.
nothing in my posts suggests when the decision was made. only that once made it should have been announced immediately. if it was in fact made a few days ago, it should have been announced at that time. if alexander had in fact been fired days earlier, why prolong the announcement? public firings are far more painful than private firings made in the board room. the whole world knows you've been deemed a failure.

Doesn’t really matter. Jason doesn’t get to pick his coaches anyway. He’s just a figure head for the Jones family.

He won’t notice for awhile anyway. He’s a 11-2 mail it in guy.

In hind sight it is hard to believe JG would fly to the world series if they were planning to fire their OL coach. Wouldn't you be back working with Colombo and bringing back Hudson Houck?

It might be a critical error akin to Romo going to Cabo
That's partially what he was doing. Bringing Houck back.

I've yet to read how this is remotely a critical error.

Jason was in Los Angeles recruiting Hudson Houck and taking in the Dodgers.

I think it's probably best if Jason wasn't in the building. I don't think Alexander would have taken it very well with Jason clapping while telling him he's fired

"Not now Jason..." lol

That would be a funny comedy sketch, Jason Garrett clapping at inopportune moments.

The more I think about it, I bet Jason had everything to do with this decision.

Babe Laufenberg once called Houck "Jason's best friend in coaching." I can see Jerry asking Jason what we can do to improve things, and Jason blames Alexander and stumps for Colombo and Houck to come back. Both are going to be on Jason's "side" going forward, and both (especially Houck) have the added benefit of being very tight with Jerry going way back.

Never underestimate Jason's desire and ability to play politics to preserve himself and his job going forward. If he'll do it with Phillips and Callahan among others, why wouldn't he do it to a newb like Paul Alexander?

There is no way the Head Coach didn't influence the decision to fire someone on his staff lol
