Was ridding Ronald Jones a mistake?

I don't know about Jones. But Dowdle's limited carries have revealed some speed and explosiveness when he's been given opportunities.

Maybe McCheese should look at the run game scheme a little more closely and run plays accordingly.

I mean it was always supposed to be a Run the damn ball and rest the defense philosophy right?

...looking at our RB situation right now. We basically, have two RB's who do Ok and are limping around. (TP/Dowdle)

Vaughn is practically non-existent. Leupke is gadget player.

Jones had Zeke power, and more speed. He could have brought the 1-2 punch offense needed.

Is it mandatory, you cut a player after PED/s accusations?
I think you may be overvaluing Ronald Jones, who is still a free agent.

Ill admit i was clamoring to get rid of zeke and elevate pollard to the #1 back. Ill eat crow and say pollard is not a legit #1 rb. Hes a 2rb and more of a gadget player. Good grief

No. Was a bad signing the entire time. Replace maybe one of the best run blockers in the NFL at RB with maybe one of the worse run blockers in the NFL at RB?

I guess the answer is 'none of the above.' I still think Henry would do great winding down his career the same way Zeke did. I'm glad they didn't trade for him when he probably fetched a 2nd, but he's cheap now!

Jones was a JAG.

IMO the only way he was making the roster was if Rico declined or ended up on IR for the 4th time and Luepke didn't show any potential.

The mistake was thinking Pollard, Rico Glass Dowdle, a hobbit and a hybrid fb were good enough for the backfield. But I'd assume cap budgets came into play as well.
I'm not convinced it was a mistake, cuz we have failing coaches that are not placing these players in a
roles, schemes and position to excel.

Yet once again, .. we seem to be having issues involving RBs in pass game well. Pollard shouldve been dynamite on these quick RB screens . but we don't run them. We only got one very late in the game with Pollard, when the game was clearly distance blowout loss.

You thought we'd see a split back formation that would feature a Pollard- Deuce combo in the pass game ?
This coaching staff does not know that.

You thought we'd see a run/pass scheme conducive to the run/catch skill set of a Pollard ?
This coaching staff does not know that.

Run blockers ? Would you mean pass blockers ?

What happened to Jones? Can he still play for us?

I’m willing to bet Rico is every as good as Jones is
I like Rico, too. But it seems like we need three RBs. I agree Vaughn has not been what some of us thought he could be. Maybe he needs time. But I think it'd be wise to bring in another back.

Get paid to play football or sit on the couch?

Football is a business. These guys don’t judge and cry like babies. It’s a job and an enormous paycheck. They don’t care if it’s Cowboy silver and blue, Eagles green, Commander red etc.

When Ronald’s wife ask him why he didn’t want to sign back with Dallas I’m sure his response ”Honey, a few guys on the Cowboys message board think they stink. They should blow it up and I just want no part of that!”
:lmao:

If the player is still available to sign back, probably not too huge of a mistake getting rid of him in the first place.
I think getting hurt in camp killed his chances.

I had a lot of hope for that player.

We need RBs.
