Was T.O. worth the trouble last year?

He was not the whole and entire problem. He contributed more then a single players share of the problem. Hes not worth the crap dispite his numbers. He was not adifference maker in any games that we needed to win, which is what great players are. When things turned south, he was the first to erupt and throw pple under the bus.

I did not vote, cause I he was not the total problem or the biggest problem with last year, but he was a problem. behind the Oline/Bledsoe deal and Parcells stupid stubborness, I would rank el dorado as the third biggest problem.

Why? what made him a problem?

EDIT: And whatever that problem is (it better be his habit of dropping balls because that's really all there is), is it worse than:

1. Bradie James' horrible play down the stretch
2. Keith Davis doing absolutely nothing for us throughout the season
3. Romo's mistakes down the stretch
4. Our Secondary's inability to do anything down the stretch
5. The inability of Spears or Canty to get any pass rush whatsoever.
etc etc etc

So before you let your hate (El Dorado makes it a bit obvious) cloud your vision, you might wanna think a little before you declare him the "third most problem".

When did he erupt, I didn't see this?

And plus, I thought you weren't even supposed to be here if we signed Owens?

That's an illogical rationale.

The question should be: would we have been worse than 9-7 in 2006 without him?

Nope.

We might not have beat the Texans by as much, though.

when you look at his catches/yards/tds and the effect of him bettering our offense as a whole you could say yes he was worth it. but between the drops(3-5 of them being tds) and the major distraction i would say no he wasn't worth it.

Inexplicably, I chose the "no he wasn't" option. Something told me that I didn't choose the "yes he was" option immediately afterwards.

...oh yeah! My co-workers said that I was screaming, "NOOOOOO!" for about a half minute for no godly reason. Yep, that was the 'something'.

T.O. did have his moments last year, but were they unexpected? They probably could've been more pronounced, but they weren't. I can give you 25 million reasons why. (jk) Anyway, the offense was rolling until the defense decided to have a complete collapse in the last month of the season. Yes there were some dropped passes and all, which he should've made but didn't. But, that offense was put in a position that wasn't favorable for the team because of the defense.

Week 14 was when the collapse began on defense. From that game on, Owens had almost 300 yards receiving and 5 TDs. That's pretty good production. Not to make excuses, but he was playing with a dead finger on one hand.

The lack of concentration in some games was inexcusable. Great talent, wouldn't mind keeping him, but if someone offered me something special for him, he'd be gone in a NY second.

Nice post. I'll be interested in reading Ashwynn's reply to it.

Yeah. every team, be it pro level or pop warner, is comprised of choir boys. Some of the things you mentioned weren't even corroborated...

Others are just brought up in an effort to pile on despite medical reports that do corroborate them (finger).

After all that fuss last year about Terrell leading the league in drops no one on this board was ever able to tell me who led the league in drops in 2005. BSPN loves you.

See, the distractions affect us as fans. I'm not so sure it affects the players.

The training camp thing, the suicide thing, the spitting thing, the fighting with coaches thing really does not affect the players, and I doubt they care when he talks to the media.

Philly always wants to beat us, how is it his fault if they want to just a little bit more. (And I'm sure the sweep and McNabb's interception made them want to fight harder anyway)

Yeah, he might not have given 100% every down, but sadly, many of our players have not.

His drops ARE a problem, that's pretty much the only problem taht I really see affecting our team.

The "finger" thing is hardly his fault, either, and I doubt it really did much.

Well let me ask you a question. If you could write out your "Dallas Cowboys' problems of 2006" list, would Owens be third? And if so, what would your reasoning for it be?

Yeah, I know between dropping passes and dropping pills, he was a pain. I didn't want him here, but I have to admit, these stats represent a pretty good season.

I for one say he was worth the trouble.
According to the vote at this time, not even 1 our of 5 respondents thought his presence was bad. Just as I always suspected. The T.O. hate-ahs are a minority. Gnats that make a big, big ruckus. The peeps have spoken. You T. O. Hate-ahs and fellow gnats go away.

even some of the players hinted at the T.O. bs in interviews. about the list of problems thing. bringing T.O. here was a problem itself. jerry jones made this team a laughing stock by paying the man who disrespected the cowboy organization 30 million dollars. and too the poster above you with the drops and espn comment. i can't tell you who led the league in drops the year before. but for a wr who is considered top 3 in the nfl and by some the best wr in the sport, he should not lead the league in drops.
