Was that the right call at the end?

No, if 68 is eligible then he cannot be covered if he is on the LOS. However, if #70 also reported then they may have only had 4 ineligible linemen on the LOS which would be a penalty.

Something the talking heads keep talking about is ho the Lions didn't make it obvious who was reporting because they didn't want to alert the Cowboys defense. But the point of reporting to the refs is so they can alert the Cowboys that players wearing jerseys with ineligible player numbers are indeed eligible.
So the lions reported 7o by mistake?

Moot point in the end, because the WR covered Decker. WR needed to be in a Flanker position. So it's an illegal formation, also an illegal touch. Decker was never eligible simply based on the formation.
68 wasn't covered.

Dan Campbell is like a kid playing Madden. Going for it on 4th all the time, and of course he was going for 2 down 1 and not only that tried to outsmart us but instead outsmarted his own team.

Were we fortunate? Yes, but so were other teams many times when we screwed up at the end. A win is a win.

you have to report as eligible and then the ref has to make that announcement so the other team knows as well

The refs blew it. Who cares, it happens. This time we were on the right end but it will even out and we will be on the wrong end soon enough- it’s just the law of averages.

I’m hoping someone from the NFL says this in an official statement or tweet or something. If Decker did report as they said would the play have been legal? I’m hoping the NFL clarifies. Or not, we won and we’ve been jobbed by the refs at times so I’m not too upset. I’ll take it.
