tyler smith was the right pick.
leave him at left tackle.
please and thank you.

Ditto here.

Tyler Smith also plays a much more demanding position a OT out on an island in space vs one playing in the middle of a phone booth.

and i told ya some are gonna demand that Tyler be an All Pro at LT instantly in his rookie year.

I admit I wasn't a fan of the pick. His scouting report was a tad worrisome with the sloppy mechanics part and penalties, along with some thinking he would be a guard in the NFL.

But so far, Smith has proved me wrong and he definitely seems like the right pick.
Biadasz is no Frederick, but he's a decent/good center. Drafting a new center, when LT was a bigger issue due to Tyrons' availability, didn't make a lot of sense to me unless Linderbaum was close to a HOF level center.

Going into the draft I wanted either Penning(LT) or a Defensive end.

- Decent means average
- Good means above average
- The goal is to have a great center - one who can handle the NT by himself with needing double team
and achieve very high " elite" grades in both pass protection and run blocking.

- If Tyler Biadasz becomes like Philly Jason Belce, that's a good thang. ;)

100% the right pick. Teams spend too 5 picks on LT’s and sometimes don’t get the right guy. Plus we’ve got a young C that is more than capable.

For sure, that's the goal, but only so many great centers in the league/only a few come out every so often.
Seems like Smith has the talent to become a very good/great Left tackle so I think Dallas did a good job going with him over Linderbaum who also appears he can be a similar talented center.

what would be killer is to find the next Kelce in day 3 like the Eagles did.

TL is a stud and going to be good for a long time. The idiots that said he was too small or not strong enough must not have watched him dominate at big boy football in the Big 10.

Smith has been great. G or T he has been strong wherever they put him. Amazing for a rookie.

Either guy would have helped. I am happy with Smith. How can you not be?

Hmmmm.....I told you at the time there was a better option, that you could plug in and count on for 12 years. Hey....you know the comparison was going to happen....better it comes from a nice guy like me.

I still say we should have drafted Jermaine Johnson, Trevor Jones, Tolbert, Salyer. Of course if they didnt take the risk on Joseph in the second round last year there would have been plenty of tackles to fill in for Smith when he got injured this year. But hey. Hindsight right.

No. Aaron Donald was in the draft where the cowboys took Zach Martin. However, Donald was off the board before the cowboys pick.
Speaking of which. I think if McVay leaves. Donald will be in play. I would move heaven and earth to get him.

Imagine if Tyler Smith is as hard of a worker as Terence Steele, and improves year to year the way Steele has. Smith was more raw than Linderbaum, but he was thought to have a higher upside.

And look, Biadasz is on this list too, just a few spots down. Biadasz has made a huge leap in the last year.

We had a center who played well until a couple of weeks ago when he became injured. Who was playing LT to start the season through today if we drafted Linderbaum? 100% made the right choice with Smith. I don't believe the Cowboys would be at 12-5 right not without him. Playoffs without Smith? Not positive about that.

I am not in draft mode yet but you can typically find a probowl level center at the end of the first or top of the 2nd. Biadsz isn’t our biggest weakness but we still miss Frederick and I would be all for having a top level center play again.

An average, or sub par left tackle can destroy the run game and the pass game. An above average LT can still be the reason your quarterback misses multiple games. Getting the a reliable, high ceiling left tackle is more impactful than getting the same at the center position.

Ask yourself this-would the Cowboys be in the playoffs with Josh Ball starting at LT? Probably not. No doubt Linderbaum is a quality prospect, but the team had a bigger need at future LT.

How would he have held up with the monsters the nfc East have at def tackle? All the WAS studs, Cox & Co and the massive dudes the Giants have. He's a bit small and technique only gets you so far.

It's worth mentioning though, that Linderbaum is a total stud. He just walked into the NFL and did this.

Connor Williams is 9th... Doesn't seem like you need a 1st rounder for a good-enough center.

I did not think so, but he is a very good player with a great future at OT. I would have left him at LT, but the injuries at C may have not allowed this to happen vs. Washington. Hopefully, Biadasz or Farnoik can be back and C and go back to the lineup of Smith, McGovern, Biadasz/Farnoik, Martin, and Tyron Smith.

He does get beat.

I think it’s a problem with his footwork.

He also leans too much.

Lots to work on this Spring.
