Was Will Levis not No. 1 on the Cowboys draft board when the pick was made?

Will Levis, QB of Kentucky, was supposed to be a Top 5 pick before he started slipping. Was he not the top player on the Cowboys draft board when they made their choice at No. 26? Was he not the best player remaining?
The Cowboys were never taking a QB in the first round. It would've been entertaining on this board, but it was never going to happen.

Or maybe like the rest of the NFL, the Cowboys dont think Levis is a 1st round caliber QB

Do you really want them to take a 2nd round QB just to pee in Dak fans cherrios?
Well they didn't have a 1st round grade on the guy they took either. But that isn't uncommon when picking late. If they were graded close you go QB since daks contract is about up. Maybe it wasn't close I don't know. I'm glad they went DT and not te though

Im just saying, you have been showing off alot of butt hurt over Levis all over the forum. Almost like you an angry mom or something

You see Dak make NFL Caliber throws similar to the 40 yarder over the shoulder to CeeDee at the side of the endzone then he misses the simple ones. It seems as though he is lacking depth perception because he doesn't see the field in layers (LB behind the receiver is much closer than he thinks or missing wide open receivers due to not seeing the safety is 20 yards behind him). It's like he sees the field as a 2D flat drawing on a piece of paper instead of a 3D drawing masterpiece by da Vinci.

Maybe…. And hear me out….. they don’t think Levis will be better than Dak.

I know it sounds crazy.

Not sure why Rodgers slipped in that draft. But if you look before the draft, many analysts thought he may go first overall. In hindsight, plenty of teams made a mistake in not taking him. But at the time, the Cowboys passing on him wasn't looked at as that crazy. I think they already had Bledsoe too. Not sure you can quite fault Dallas there.

Levis was graded as a second rounder by most. Not a very high ceiling. Cowboys are in Super Bowl or bust mode. Can't pick a futures guy to sacrifice present needs. Especially this guy.

In Cowboy World, why does "take the best player remaining at the top of your draft board" never apply to the most important position? Why do we (claim to) follow this rule when it's a defensive linemen but not a quarterback?

We are told it's too expensive to trade up to the top of the draft to go after a blue chip quarterback prospect. So what's the excuse when one, like Aaron Rodgers, slips to the bottom of the round and the Cowboys take Marcus Spears, instead? Why?

In the 35 years since we drafted Troy Aikman, through thick and thin, has there never been a single time in a first round when the best remaining player on the Cowboys draft board was a quarterback?

I'm tired of this BS .....
He didn’t go in the first round to anyone. Nobody tried to trade up to Dallas’s pick for him. What in the world makes you think he was “supposed to be a top five pick?” To answer your question, no, he wasn’t the top guy on their board when they picked. Nor anybody else’s.

Just look at all those QB needy teams outside the top 10, they all passed. His high ranking appears more due to the media scouts overrating him or a possible medical concern.

Thats a silly take.

The QB class is better next season
Yes it is. But it's not often a QB who many say was a top 10 falls to 26. The boys can't wait till next year they now have to extend dak. They have zero leverage now, dak can write his own contract. Can't tag him, can't trade him, can't allow him to hit free agency and hope you get lucky to have a potential top QB fall again.

I’m all in to go all in with Dak for the next 2 years or so but I would’ve been perfectly fine with Levis at 26 to develop…

Must be something wrong with this kid.
