Was Will Levis not No. 1 on the Cowboys draft board when the pick was made?

Will Levis, QB of Kentucky, was supposed to be a Top 5 pick before he started slipping. Was he not the top player on the Cowboys draft board when they made their choice at No. 26? Was he not the best player remaining?

In Cowboy World, why does "take the best player remaining at the top of your draft board" never apply to the most important position? Why do we (claim to) follow this rule when it's a defensive linemen but not a quarterback?

We are told it's too expensive to trade up to the top of the draft to go after a blue chip quarterback prospect. So what's the excuse when one, like Aaron Rodgers, slips to the bottom of the round and the Cowboys take Marcus Spears, instead? Why?

In the 35 years since we drafted Troy Aikman, through thick and thin, has there never been a single time in a first round when the best remaining player on the Cowboys draft board was a quarterback?

I'm tired of this BS .....
I'm with you on the Spears pick, that was just stupid. But only because we had a vet at QB that was close to being washed up. But no one is picking up a QB in the first round when they already have a long term QB. If Dak was 37, maybe.

Will Levis fell for a reason. Tampa prefers Baker Mayfield over Levis. That goes to show how much they think of him. Rodgers was more highly regarded.

I’m all in to go all in with Dak for the next 2 years or so but I would’ve been perfectly fine with Levis at 26 to develop…

Must be something wrong with this kid.
It's not easy to do with the way contracts are structured. Barring something unforeseen, we'd be developing him for another team. Use a 4th to 7th pick for one of those.

Yes an No.

If he started year 3 you’d have 3 seasons for cheap with the potential tag.

Carson Wentz and Brady Quinn are what scouts compare Levis too. I think that is why he dropped. Some team is going to get a Hurt’s type lottery ticket. Worth the gamble now.

Bruh...Will Levis a great prospect. He just needs a good fit. I think Seattle and Pete Carroll.

Greatest spot would be New England!

They simply do not have the stones to walk away from dak. If they don't win a sb this year it's a waste
Its not about having the stones. They hamstrung themselves by restructuring him. They couldnt walk away even if they wanted to.

Was he not the best player available on the board for the Jaguars, Bengals, Saints, Eagles and Chiefs? They all picked after us and didn't take Levis.

Yeah, but that's a big if. If Dak is still the starting QB we just wasted a first round pick.

They had 11 first round grades and Mazi was 13 or 14.
According to Jerry . I'm not saying we take Levis. Just saying I don't think Jerry is telling the truth when he throws out 13 or 14.

The board takes into account positional need for teams, and I think for analysts too, whether they mean to or not. He probably wasn't even on the Cowboys board - or most teams for that matter.

He's a project QB who only projected to go early because there are a dozen or so teams who need a QB and it only takes one. That doesn't mean he's one of the 10-15 or even 30 best players in the draft.

Pathetic this is a draft talk forum and you belittle Levis with a gif then attack so-called Dak haters.....I guess you did play your typical card.
Stop playing the Victim Card... Levi's has been the meme drfat joke on Twitter for past 24hrs...Wake Up!!!

I Love Will Levis, I know my East Coast talent!....but he's a waste pick of a draft pick FOR the Cowboys.

Have fun like....Dak Hater :lmao:

Levis is such a flawed QB prospect. But he has starter caliber tools, and if he makes good on those tools, he's worth $30M a year minimum.

For a WR, $30M is a Tyreek Hill level player. For a DE, that's a Myles Garrett level player. For a QB, that's a Jared Goff level player.

So if you think Levis can even be functional, he'll have a huge impact on your team. The risk and reward balance out at a certain point, and I think we passed it a while ago.
