We'll see. So far Taylor's career could be labeled as a borderline bust (he's lead all safeties in TD's allowed in 2 of his first 3 years). 2005 showed what potential he has, but I think there's only so much one can do without a pass rush. And a team that had 18 measly sacks last year doesn't have a pass rush. Think about it for a second, Dallas had 34 sacks last season and the pass rush was abysmal...but still nearly twice as many sacks as the Skins.

No one is talking about the fact that Sean lost 20 pounds this offseason in preparation to his switch to being a true free safety. This is the best secondary he's ever been surrounded by; if they all stay healthy, I look for a huge year out of Sean. He'll be able to do his job alone, and not help out 2 other bums like Rumph and Holdman.

haha that thread did crack me up. Of course everyone hates TO. Its so easy to hate him. Everyone outside of Dallas Hates him, and many of you still do. If he wasnt a Cowboy (like when he played for the eagles) you would hate him.

Guess what einstein.... i don't "hate" him (or anyone else, including YOU for that matter), I just dislike his actions.... however, at least for the moment, he seems to be OK.

Sounds lot like Roy, except for FS farce.

Sean Taylor is a beast. Off the field you can say what you want. But on the field, he scares me, even though he makes some slip ups.

The guy is a great athlete, and you can fault him for some poor missed tackles and secondary play, but he's a top safety.

Washington has no pass rush, of course the secondary will look bad.

haha borderline bust?? cmon now, thats a bit harsh. Someone like Robert Gallery is a borderline bust (leaning more on the bust side). I know how bad their past rush was last season. It showed. Im assuming the 2 seasons you talk about were his rookie season and last season (31st rated defense with the worst pass rush in the history of the NFL?

Sheez. Someone woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning. People throw the word "hate" around all the time. So what. I'm sure youve done it plenty of times. Get over it.

The Commanders have so much invested into the secondary that I really hope Taylor can play well. If he couldn't play well with all the 1st round picks and huge contracts back there, nothing will help him.

And heres something. From what I have always been told by skins fans, Taylor does absolutely everything on the field so well. So I am kind of having a hard time figuring out how a team would ever play in a system that isn't geared towards his strengths.

Fo real though, I've always thought he was lazy and would be a solid player if he worked for it. Guess we will have to see.

Funny you should say that. http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbc...RTS01/108030090/1005/SPORTS&template=nextpage

"Whereas the first three years of Williams' defense were about throwing everything at opponents in an effort to confuse them, this year will represent a philosophical shift — putting together a game plan that adjusts to a player's strengths rather than having the player adjust his game to fit the scheme."

Gallery is a huge bust. 2nd overall pick and he's easily been one of the 3 worst offensive tackles in the league since he's been in the league. Now the Raiders may move him to guard and his future there as a starter is uncertain.

Taylor has lead all safeties in TD's allowed in 2004 and 2006. He's only played 3 years. He looked good in 2005, but if it was just about any other safety in the league that didn't get the occasional highlight reels with his occasional big hits (Taylor also led the league in missed tackles last season with 19), he'd be considered a pretty bad safety.

Hell, Roy Williams' pass stat numbers over the past 4 years are far better than Taylor's have been in the past 3 seasons and he's usually considered as a terrible cover guy and horribly overrated (and Roy forces much more turnovers)

When a guy like Taylor is a former 6th overall pick and has pass defense numbers that are that bad (especially in an important stat like TD's allowed) and misses that many tackles, it's probably safe to start thinking he could be a bust if he doesn't get things turned around.

YAKUZA
remembers Art over on ES calling Newman a bust despite statistically being a top 10 corner in 2004, yet Taylor is some supposed superstar

I keep seeing this stat - Sean Taylor is the safety who has given up the most TDs...blah blah blah!

Guess what folks, cornerbacks give up TDs, not safeties. If you and I were to play in front of ed reed and ronnie lott, they would give up the most TDs in NFL history. Safeties make plays, but for them to show up statistically, they usually need to be surrounded by quality corners. A pass rush would help, too.

Let me get this straight, offenses can send 5 guys out on any given play to catch a pass that could end up being a TD. There are 2, sometimes 3 CB's during any given play. So what you are saying is if any of those 2-3 CB's let any of the 5 elligible receivers catch a TD, it is the CB's fault? 2-3 guys to cover 5?

You keep telling yourself that !!!
