I'll preface this by saying I DON"T want us to draft a TE in the 1st...but if we do the more I watch these guys the more I'd rather just roll the dice on Washington.

If we're going to draft a low value position in the 1st give me kid that has all pro upside if everything clicks.

Even if Wash doesn't reach his full potential I still see his floor as one of the best blocking TEs in football, a redzone nightmare and an average pass catching TE that can give you 50+ grabs and 500+ yards a year. I'd take that risk over the 2 also knowing QBs LOVE massive targets against zone (84 inch wingspan) and he'll likely be a better red zone threat than the other 2.

50+ and 500 yards absolutely is not the floor

You’re only off by about 50-60%
Schultz got average a little over 90 targets the last 3 years and average around 650 yards during that span. He’s the definition of mediocre as a pass catcher and had a negative EPA when targeted last year.

I’m pretty confident if given the same target volume Washington is in that ballpark for his floor.

Kincaid IMO is a top 20 player. Mayer ain’t far behind. Washington is a round 2 player. Love Kincaid. Really like Mayer. Washington has intriguing size and athleticis.

Washington is such a great redzone player that he averaged 1 TD per season in college...

I saw this too…obviously the sample size is small but still impressive.
Yeah, I'm not sure what to think of it but it's obvious he cannot be dismissed as a pass catcher. I still think I'm Kincaid, Meyer, Washington but he's got a high ceiling

I could see Washington not getting receiving reps from Ferguson as a rookie. Could be why Dallas is reportedly out on him
Could be.

As I said I don’t want a TE in the 1st. But if we’re taking one I want the high upside one.

My preference is to hope Wash / Musgraves falls to our 2nd or someone else dallas in the mid rounds.
