Washington is such a great redzone player that he averaged 1 TD per season in college...

REC
YDS
TD
Mayer
180
2099
18
Washington
45
774
3
Maybe Mayer was the first option in his offense vs Washington being 3rd, 4th or 5th

Mayer was the first TE I watched for this draft class, and I was impressed...then I watched Kincaid and was envisioning him in the Dallas offense instead of Shultz.

It's always been Kincaid for me, so if he's gone I'm for them waiting till the middle rounds to find a guy.

Yeah. If Washington doesn’t improve as a receiver , he will be a career backup
Not sure if he’ll be a career backup, but Kincaid and Mayer are far better pass catchers.

He played behind Brock bowers who would be te#1 in this draft class , he opportunities weren't great

I'll preface this by saying I DON"T want us to draft a TE in the 1st...but if we do the more I watch these guys the more I'd rather just roll the dice on Washington.

If we're going to draft a low value position in the 1st give me kid that has all pro upside if everything clicks.

Even if Wash doesn't reach his full potential I still see his floor as one of the best blocking TEs in football, a redzone nightmare and an average pass catching TE that can give you 50+ grabs and 500+ yards a year. I'd take that risk over the 2 also knowing QBs LOVE massive targets against zone (84 inch wingspan) and he'll likely be a better red zone threat than the other 2.
I might be wrong, but Washington is a major project as a receiver who will take a long time to develop if ever. He is Mercedes Lewis until he proves otherwise. Kincaid is that oversized receiver who won't give you much as a blocker, more of a big slot. Mayer who is the least athletic, can do it all and needs very little development. May never become an elite receiver, but he will be a very productive player who can help the team out in many ways.

Kincaid is the kind of TE that changes the way defenses have to cover you. He is a gamechanger and that's what we need in our offense.
Kincaid is 24 years old. Your not concerned about his age. I wish he tested because I just didn’t see anything in his play that made me say 4.5 speed tight end or Kelse.

Kelce was 24 his rookie year I believe.

Yea, I’d strongly disagree.
we get it you love Washington
Bottom line is he IS a project and you do not take projects in the first rd. That was why I was leery of Smith last season; he did better then I thought he would but still not good enough. Needs to improve seriously to be a stud LT

Cannot understand this BS worrying about a couple years of age. A TE can expected to play until his early 30's at least. So he can still be expected, at 24, to get two contracts. For those that think that is important, anyway.

They use it to justify not taking the player.

I just would want a 21 year old at Mayer’s level then a finished product like Kincaid at 24.

I don’t actually…I hate the idea of a TE in the 1st. The only thing worse would be a RB and maybe a G.

The point of the thread was if we’re going to draft one at 26 I want the one with the highest upside.

He is a bit of a traits pick but the traits are very loud.
