Watch Polamalu

Roy is handicapped by Zimmer....
GROZ
GROZ
GROZ.

Have to agree...
Troy looks like Roy did Roy's rookie year....making plays in coverage, near the LoS, sacking the QB, all over the field.
Zimmer wasn't about to have any more of that....

This is what I refer to as a "Grass is greener on the other side" topic. There is always someone else out there who is always "better" than what we have.

If Troy Palamalulumalo intercepts a ball, on the run back, is it legal to drag him down by the hair?

Well when it's referring to the cowboys, realistically, there is usually always someone better.

Find me a position where that's not true.

But in this specific case, Roy is still better then Polamalu.

In light of our recent conversation about Roy vs Troy...
I was just reminding those who said they haven't seen much of Polamalu to pay attention today.

Maybe he won't show up at all. But if he does, it will be something exciting and remarkable.
Troy's change of direction and sudden bursts are outstanding, Roy's are..well... not. Roy definetely hits harder though.

Absolutely.

Hair is considered part of the jersey.

I think he is a great safety, but Roy could do just as well in that defense maybe even better. The Steelers put way more pressure on the qb than the Dallas defense. Hopefully in their second year of the 3-4 that will change. (Pressure on the qb makes everyone better on defense)
AT his size, Roy will never be as quick as Palamalu

I wonder if the Cowboys moved Roy to LB and brought in two safties via draft and FA.

I think he would be a great LB given his ability to cover (compared to most LB's).

Just a thought.

I agree, but it's all about perspective. Most of us watch the Cowboys 16 games a year, we completely micro-analyze every play of every game for every player on our team. Of course we're going to find flaws with everyone on our team when we watch them as much as we do. I also imagine other teams fans do the same thing to their teams players...

All i'm saying is I believe fans tend to be harsher on their own players than they are of players on other teams. That being said I in no way advocate complacency. :)

How many of these "Grass is always greener" posts must we endure?

I like the players we have. I like Roy at safety. I would like it if we had Polamalu. I like Sean Taylor (as a player....he's an idiotic human being) at safety.

Roy's a good player.....we could do worse at the position.

Sorry if I read the post wrong.....it seems the jist is, "look, another player better than what we have".

You did.

We had a long thread going last week about what people thought of Polamalu in relation to Roy.
To my surprise, many said they had never really watched Polamalu play.
I was simply saying that today would be a good opportunity to watch him in action if you had never seen him much before.

What about Lynch did you see the game he had against NE? That's what Roy needs to be doing, we've got to find a FS with great range so we can turn Roy loose.

Roy "i cant cover" Williams is not in the same league as this guy and should not ever be compared to him except saying something like "I wish Roy was 1/2 as good as him". ;)

um ok

It was funny to see Polamalu run over and drug about 5 yards by Edgerrin James. Troy looked like a bull rider that just got bucked off and his arm was still caught in the rope.. HAHAHA Its a good thing someone else was there to bring James down.

Plain FACT.. Troy Polamalu is a totally different type of player than Roy Williams is.. and Roy Williams has not been used to the best of his ability since Darren Woodson played along side him (that being.. having a competent Free Safety that can handle man to man coverage and doesn't blow his assignments in zone).

and Tony Gonzales ran all over Roy like a speed bump. Easy to pick out one play, huh?

Yep.. easy. Fact of the matter is all I was saying is the play was FUNNY to me. I made absolutely not mention to the caliber of player Polamalu is.

Thanks.

how about when Roy got thrown down by a Commander last year.... threw him down with a wrist flick. real embarrasing.
