Define "ours," because it seems to me that we've never seen what this coaching staff does.
Well, we know they aren't sitting JJ out of the preseason, and we know they've given Barber a few more carries than JJ.

I already explained this. When the first team is in, they've pretty much used them in their typical roles -- Julius starts and gets most of the carries, and Barber comes in on third downs and near the goal line (although Julius has gotten some work in both situations -- and done well). When the first team leaves after the first quarter, Barber takes over the lead back's role.

First quarter -- Julius 15 carries, Barber 6 carries

Second quarter -- Julius 0 carries, Barber 17 carries

I like the way they used them against Denver, (as you described it, plus 4 other runs by Barber) and I hope they get used that way during the regular season.

Plus four other runs? Barber's only carries against Denver before Julius came out were one on third-and-5 and two from Denver's 1-yard line.

I don't see the second-team offense as being defined by when Julius goes out, but when Romo leaves the game. You and Julius would probably have something different to say.

And I freely admit that I am projecting my own wishful thinking onto this, and not trying to prove that I know what's going to happen.

Julius ... Owens ... Witten ... Adams ... Colombo. They all came out after the first quarter. Those are first-teamers.

That's two guys coming back off of injuries, one guy dealing with injuries, Witten and Jones. That wasn't the second-team offense in the second quarter, as if proving that it was would prove anything anyway.

The second team in the preseason doesn't mean all backups. It means the second unit you're planning on playing together. The first unit is all of the starters for that game. The second unit, in this case, was comprised of some starters and some backups. Julius, Witten and Owens aren't coming out after the first quarter because they're losing playing time, it's because teams try to protect their key skills players in the preseason. (If Owens and Glenn were completely healthy, they'd still come out early, too.) And if Romo didn't have only 11 career starts and wasn't in a new offense, he wouldn't stay in as long as he has, either.
