Watching this defense is gloriously funny

I love it, I grew up watching Doomsday with Harvey Martin and TooTall and the Manster as my favorite players. This team has been in desperate need of an elite defense since forever and I hope they finally figured out they can't contend without one. The only teams that can get by without an elite defense are the ones that have elite QBs and elite offenses, which in any given year is less than a handful of teams. Figure it out Jerry!

I wouldn’t say we play the lights out against San Francisco defensively. We played well but not lights out. Our defense did drop off the second half of last season, especially our pass rush. We ranked as high as 8th overall defensively and dropped to 14th by the end of the season. Part of the problem is Parsons wears down as the season goes on, which caused our pass rush to decline. We’ll see if the added weight and strength helps him this season to sustain. Currently we ranked number one overall defensively.
part of that was losing hankins, lve, and two of our starting corners for a good chunk of time.
49ers if the offense wasnt so lacking in weapons and pollard didnt get hurt the defense wouldve benefited not being on the field so much.

I'm still trying to understand how the Jets managed to score a touchdown.

Here we are, two games in, and Dallas is giving up an average of 5 points a game. That sounds like a stat from 1930.

Next up are the Cardinals, and I'd bet they cross the 50-yard-line twice, if at all. Probably only if we turn it over. Then New England, who will be the most impressive offense we've faced to date, which is disturbing and hilarilous at the same time.

So heading into 49ers week, how many points will the Cowboys have given up by then? I don't see the Cardinals managing more than 9 or 10 points. New England perhaps 14-17. Maybe.

It's 70-10 right now. Could it be in the neighborhood of 130-30 soon?

There just aren't many teams built to withstand the swarm of this defense, and virtually no quarterbacks that won't panic under the avalanche of it all.

But's fun, and funny, to watch.
..yep, its almost surreal. We've waited a long time for something special. Things looking up. ;)..

I imagine it'd be hard for him to walk away, even if offered a HC job for a little more money elsewhere.
He's getting far more love and attention as the DC here than he would at any other open head coaching job.

And I think he's kinda past the attention part of this. He genuinely loves to coach defense, especially one this stacked.

That last sentence is the thing to which I was referring. He probably feels a small sense of fatherhood with a lot of these guys, and he's a proud papa! Leaving them (certainly some more than others) is likely something he isn't looking forward to doing.

I actually have caught myself laughing quite a bit as Parsons and the pass rush harass these qbs right into giving the ball to our secondary, OR being pummeled first.

It's been a glorious way to enjoy games, as opposed to years past of ripping my hair out.
I know what you mean....I've found myself whooping like a schoolgirl at some of the plays.

In years gone by the D have been a nightmare for me but especially 3 TVs, 2 cats, 1 dog and an annoying wife that "got in my line of sight" at the wrong times

I find myself fixated on Micah. Watching him is just amazing

It’s been so fun watching the defense ball out that I don’t really mind watching our offense have to settle for 5 field goals……the Only question is can they sustain AND remain healthy?
It's your last sentence that seems to come up as the other shoe dropping in every comment about the Cowboys. Not you specifically, although it is safe to say you will mention this frequently. But the media, and fans offer the big BUT...can they stay healthy and maintain this?

Yet, when I see both the press and fans here and around talking about the Eagles and Niners, you never really see that take. The angle of BUT can they maintain it is almost never in question.

Now we all can agree this team has spit the bit year after year. So a little healthy skepticism is due. But the Eagles and Niners are not invincible.

"Well, until Dallas beats them."

Every year is different. So why is it never, "Until they beat Dallas?"

This team can only play one game at a time. Discounting their performances because of competition ignores the fact we have no clue what the game plan was, or the intent of the play caller. There could be an entire section of the play calling, game plan being reserved at this time until these INVINCIBLE titans enter the arena against Dallas.

I just don't see a need to wring my hands about this offense until the time hand wringing is necessary. Or crowning the Eagle and Niners as world beaters until the season is over. And then only one of them will be world beaters, unless the Chiefs repeat, or perhaps Miami arrives.

Nothing's settled until it's settled. Maybe enjoying the moment should be the focus of all.

Oh yeah I've been in almost exactly that scenario. She despises the Cowboys (football in general) too. I may not always behave well during the games, but do they have to poke the bear?

Yes! Like I said after week one, if we see going by this season alone nobody has been more impressive. That still rings true after week 2. Both of the teams we demolished are playoff contenders. Philly was sloppy against Minnesota and fortunate to win. The niners struggled against the Rams. Of course we need to beat those teams, but based on this year alone we are CURRENTLY the cream of the crop.

I guess that’s because I don’t care about the health of the Niners and Eagles

I just care about the health of my team which seems poised to finally go all the way.

Besides being great, every team that goes to the SB has to be healthy AND lucky and those two intangibles can’t be helped or engineered

Hope that clarifies my position……GO COWBOYS!!!!!

And in a court of law, sounds like that's the case for our defence!

We had no running game when Pollard was in there. He only had 22 yards on 6 carries and our passing game was terrible that day. Their defense shut our offense down. Our current offense is going to have to get better, especially in the redzone or our defense will be stuck having to win games all season.
