We should try and put Henry at FS on nickel downs.. I don't know, we just need to do something back there until Watkins gets it.

It's almost time to take the rookie label off Watkins, it's approaching the mid point of the season. The guy has to show something or we wasted another draft pick on a FS!

What are you talking about, I never labeled Romo as a rookie even though it's his first start of the season. Not to mention the circumstances he got thrown into the game.

Man some of you guys are HARSH. Is this how your groom a rookie,, ask him to play against pro bowl WR but whatever you do, don t let them score a td,, or you suck. The kid has made ONE bad play this year.. that i recall and that was that long td in the eagles game. Other than that.. he has been in position. NO DOUBT the kid has somethings to learn. He needs to learn, to not let WR sheild him with their bodies, he has to learn to attack the ball in the air, and how to do that. Look its not easy to defend WR for CB like Newman and henry, the rookie is going to be good. He has to learn how to adapt his style to a faster game, and not draw PI calls. Man, if some of you were the coach's, we would never win anything, you would cut or release everyone from year to year, unless they made the probowl out of college.

It's not rocket science buddy, as Parcells quietly stated..."he didn't make a play on the ball, you'll have to ask him why he didn't...."

And what about the others that he did? Or the runs he forced? Or the tackles he made at the line? The kid makes about 6 or 7 plays and misses 1 and everyone says he sucks. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FROM A ROOKIE? There is a reason, most rooks don't start their first year. GEEZ,, I hope he stays in, I hope he grows as a player and I KNOW he will be a good one back there for us.

Counting on a rookie 5 round Free Safety to cover starting NFL wideouts is a big risk. No doubt that every team has tried to get deep ball in there after the Philly game.

I dont have a problem with the kid or him starting. I do think the need to protect him a bit, a Cover 2 zone is alot to ask. I would rather they let our corners cover and let the FS play centerfield. Protects him and lets him try to learn ( and GAIN confidence) to make plays. The silly corner blitzez show how much they want to protect him...why not blitz the FS and let a corner cover. Seems like its just not solid coaching here to me.

I want to make very clear that I think Watkins has a future in this league. I like him. He's ours.

Having said that, why does Pat Watkins get all kinds of excuses here while others are killed for every bust, missed opportunity, and global warming?

I know Watkins is a rookie, but his mistakes have really hurt this team. If Coleman or Davis would make less mistakes, I am all for putting them in.

How many times has Watkins been "scorched"? Mind you, on the Plaxico play he wasn't "scorched" he simply didn't attempt a play on the ball. Both he and Plax were basically standing still at the time.
Philly multiple times and NY.

I think Watkins still plays-- a lot. Coleman sucked as a FS.

The thing is that Watkins is not being outmatched physically.

does it really matter if he's being outmatched physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, etc. etc. ???

i'm already getting sick of seeing him involved in 50-yard TDs.

it's like the BP story from when he was a kid... "parcells, you're never doing anything wrong - but you're always around when somebody else is."

I think Watkins should be benched in favor of Coleman if he's ready to play and should come in in situational circumstances. He needs to walk before he can run. Groom him. The kid has talent, but he needs seasoning. Start the Vet and take the pressure off the kid so that he just relaxes and gets back to enjoying the game.

The kid is 6'5,, he should match up with anyone. The kid as to just learn how to attack the ball once he does that, he will be fine.

Bill Parcells mentioned in his Press Conference yesterday that the kid was getting a ton of interceptions in Training Camp but doesn't know what is going on with him now.

Troy Aikman just said on the Radio, that when Eli Manning threw that pass to Plex, he thought it was going to be intercepted, but Watkins just couldn't find the ball.
