And let me get something straight - in today's NFL you don't have to 'rebuild'. It's a league of parity, just look at the Chiefs and Panthers. As long as you have a quality quarterback and a decent coach - you have a shot any year.
It's not like what Parcells had to do following Campo - where it takes 2-3 years of quality drafts and sound free agent moves to be in contention again.

chiefs fired haley in 2012, took a year off and let the interim coach go win 2 games in 2013 before hiring reid and giving him GM say.
they drafted very high and spent a lot on free agency plus traded for a new QB.
that is the very essence of a rebuild.... high draft picks, lots of free agent money and a new QB.
panthers did same in 2010. they won 2 games....
drafted an R1 QB in 2011 and won only 6 games.
they've been slowly building around young, high draft picks.
Cam went 1st and Keuchley(sp?) went 9th overall.
