We don't need 8 starters. We need 3. 4 if you don't like Wilcox. We are set of offense and LB and the secondary have bodies.

Bernadeau, Williams, and Leary are all still on the squad.

Selvie/Crawford

Carter
Lee
Holloman/Durant/Wilber
Carr
Scandrick/Claiborne
Church
Wilcox

Smith
Leary
Gurode
Bernadeau
Free
Witten
Escobar/Hanna
Bryant
Williams
Romo
Murray

4 good starters would get us back to 8-8.

Carter is not starting for me at WLB. Wilcox is not starting for me at Safety... though he'd play in my dime packages as a man coverage guy.
He might even be my straight out back up to Scandrick as a slot cover guy.

Bern and Leary are OK starting guards but we just got Bern to take about 1.5m which suggests perhaps his league-wide value is pretty terrible.
Leary was cut by the same offensive staff 18 months ago.

Williams and Escobar are legit options but both would be first time starters and nee dot prove they can handle those roles. Hanna has been a terrible option for us.

If you don't like Carter we still have Durant Wilber and Holloman. Nice that you don't like Wilcox but pretending like he is not a legit prospect is baseless.

I don't know what 4 starters do. Posturing on outcomes without basis posits nothing. Hatcher is the only one that played well last year. Austin, Ware, Spencer, and Hayden were nonexistent to terrible. Of those guys that you claim need to be replaced most did not produce squat meaning any contribution will be a bonus.

The offensive line played better and better down the stretch. Leary played a hell of a lot better than he did 18 months ago when they cut him and put him on the PS dinged up. He got healthy worked hard and progressed.

I said before the end of this past season that we would be a 5-11 or 6-10 team this coming season. Sadly, I might have been too optimistic with my prediction.

Who has rebuilt without top 10 draft picks?

I agree having high picks guarantees jack squat but rebuilds are almost always done with multiple top 10 picks.

I would consider a team being "rebuilt" when they have back-to-back playoff appearances, in the sense that you can't typically fall backwards into that sort of thing. There are 7 teams in the NFL who have streaks of consecutive playoff appearances. Their Top Ten picks in the past five years are below:
New England - None
Green Bay - BJ Raji: average player who had a couple splash plays in playoff games. More commercials in past two years than sacks or tackles for loss.
Cincinnati - Andre Smith: A good right tackle who didn't develop until the last year of his contract. Those are not unique special talents and can be had outside of the top ten; AJ Green: Definitely a generational talent that you'll only find in the top few picks, unless there are major character concerns.
Denver - Von Miller: Excellent pass rusher, tough to find these outside of the top ten.
San Francisco Michael Crabtree: Good but I don't think great receiver who could be replaced with a late first or 2nd rounder; Aldon Smith: Excellent pass rusher, tough to find these outside of the top ten.
Seattle - Aaron Curry:A true megabust; Russell Okung: One time Pro Bowler at an important position but not a generational talent.
Indianapolis - Andrew Luck: Definitely a generational talent that you'll only find in the top few picks, unless there are major character concerns.

I'd argue the teams that have been built to last did not require multiple top 10 picks. You may need those to find a franchise QB, or a truly elite pass rusher or receiver, but I don't think multiple 4-12 years sets you up any better than multiple 8-8 years if you draft well.

Bernadeau played well last year also. The entire starting offensive line is more than acceptable for 2014.

This doesn't look like a rebuild. I have no clue what this bunch is doing.

Your sig makes me feel for Romo. The best years of his career being wasted away by incompetent management.
Management didn't choke away multiple playoffs, and attempts to make the playoffs. That was your boy.

They were so confident in him last year they got a retired 40 year old off the couch to replace him.

Based on his irregular performance I can understand.

But the fact is... and yes it is a fact... he played darned well after Waters went down.

He did. Still not confident that he is "set" however. Same goes for Leary. I am okay with the tackles but we need a swing badly.
