Less not forget-Newman isn't at full strength yet to start(he could very well continue to play the nickel the next couple of weeks).

IOW-if they move Henry to FS over the next month, then that would leave Pacman and [whoever else] at the other CB spot, with Newman only coming in for the nickel.

BTW-you need to trust this coaching staff. While I myself don't agree with Pat at SS, it's the coaching staff that watches them in practice every day.

Yea, you are right about giving Wade the benefit of the doubt here. Besides, Wade knows that it is his job on the line and another first round exit will be his arse.

I don't think anybody hates Roy personally. I just think people are tired of $26M dollars going down the drain for tackles.

That isn't a very a good reason. Its not their money and the team has plenty of cap room.

Whats the problem?

Why wouldnt Hamlin move to SS and Watkins play FS?

How bout move Henery to FS?

Watkins is a bean pole, not sure how the coaches can look at him and think he would make a great SS, I dont get it:(

it makes perfect sense when you realize these are the same coaches that didn't want felix returning kicks.

As crap as Roy is in coverage there are things he does well. I also think it would be unnatural to see him in anything but a Cowboys uniform.

From my perspective, I've seen more blown coverages by Ken Hamlin this year than Roy. The only one I remember by Roy is the deep ball to Jackson.

wait this can't be you mean Hamlin not the superior safety and he isn't going to replace RW in the off season..... I don't believe what your saying maybe you need your eyes checked clearly every completed pass is RW fault even after he broke his arm......

Well, that's by design. The coaching staff is making a serious effort to try to remove Roy from passing situations.

I find it very humorous that people still consider him a great safety, but the coaching staff and front office are trying to find alternatives to keeping him on the field.

You do realize that passing situations aren't just 3rd and longs.....I think our defense suffers more not having in there to be honest.

Well, it looks like Watkins will be the starting SS for at least the next 4 weeks, while Williams is out with a fractured forearm. This might make a few fans a little nervous, but I think even more Cowboy fans are happy about it and especially on this board. Watkins is a much taller DB at 6-5 and that will certainly help him against other TE's in the league. He's definitely faster than Roy and I don't think anyone will dispute that. If Watkins starts to make plays at the SS position, it's going to be hard for Williams to come back as the starter IMO. I certainly won't shed any tears over it though, because it's all about making plays.

I think Watkins will take advantage of this oppurtunity.

2 things
  1. Roy will be back sooner than later
  2. Roy will be starting when he gets back

This coaching staff doesn't like to rush players back, so I kinda doubt that.

When Roy is 100% healthy we'll see what happens...till then it's Watkins job.

More likely it sets the stage for Watkins not making the team next year.

That makes both of them...
