I love how others say "Dez isn't worth the money". Here is a clue, the club is under the cap and guess what, it's not your money. Put your own checkbook on the line and you can have a say. Until then, it's up to the Jone's club to pay players. Dez has faults, the dropsies are nothing new. If you don't like Dez on our team, don't blame him. Blame the employer.

Agree, plus veteran players have their ups and downs. A year ago a bunch of posters here said DLaw would do nothing. The year before it was Sean Lee.

That isn't your argument

You said and cannot prove that they are better without Dez

If the 5 BEST games were with Dez then you cannot get better than that.........GAME OVER

the dez of 2015, 16 and 17 is not at all comparable to the dez of 2012, 13 and 14. too many clinging to the past. he's an overpaid jag now. time can change dez, but dez can't change time. cull him out. keep the money. spend it on someone more valuable.

Brice Bulter had 80 yards receiving in those three games combined. He shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with Dez Bryant.

And "stick of gum" veterans aren't going to improve the team, we already have guys like Terrence Williams that no one bothers to double team. Putting a bunch of those WRs on the field is the surefire way to a losing record.

We have the money to keep Dez and sign whoever we want, the issue is what players are available.

Didn’t we just sign 2 of those

Unless you're winning Super Bowls, being marginally worse doesn't really matter.

The FO would be in favor of keeping Dez as long as his contractual terms were more acceptable. Obviously, the FO feels they're not. Also, they're likely waiting to see what kind of a WR they get in the draft to fortify their negotiating power. Their chances of success are probably better with him than without him, although his salary hasn't really been justified by his on-field contributions for some time now. Both Dez and the FO are at something of an impasse now. There may be concessions made on both sides before all is said and done. I doubt he'll be leaving this year, although that might change in 2019.

We are paying ZMartin 9.3m this year
We are 60m under the cap next year
Draft class will cost 2.4m to sign

NEXT
Dallas cap number next year is 56 mil and that doesnt include Zack Martin or Demarcus Lawrence. What if David Irving and Jaylon Smith Have great seasons. There are back up players on a 1 year deal. Dez Bryant is a boat anchor that must be cut loose! If this team is going to win anything its gonna be because of the running game and Zeke!

Your numbers are off a little. The rookie pool is estimated to be 7.7 mil and Dallas has 2.6 mil in cap space right now. Cut DEZ BRYANT!

Either defend your position or concede you are wrong. Be a Dez fan but don't pretend he didn't hurt the team last season.

You Dezerters can create a million different threads all trying to put down Bryant but we are not a better team if we cut him.......PERIOD

If we can trade him and get fair value like a 3rd round pick then we could recoup some of the loss but we will still be worse in 2018 ......AHurns and DThompson are secondary pieces, not stars...... Dez is a star

And don't mention his money either....what are we going to spend it on ???..... and we can still create more space by keeping him....... just like DWare a few years ago...... we got worse as a team by cutting him....who cares if Dez is overpaid by 2-4m??? We are 6m under the cap right now

We didn't sign Mathieu or Suh or SRichardson or a real LBer.....just some more dumpster diving that feels like shopping in Beverly Hills after skipping the first 10 days of FA......don't be fooled

I think you are confusing the old Dez...

with the new Dez.

The old Dez had an undisiplined QB in Tony Romo and b/w their styles of play..

were successful.

The new Dez can't adjust to what is now happening and is failing the team badly.

The old Dez will never return.

Age, injuries and emotional temperment have sabotaged him.

We need a new #1 WR fast.

Hopefully..

this year.

We are squandering Prescott and Zeke right now with our losing.

We only have this OL for a certain period of time.

Its now or never.

Crawford signed a new deal in the Spring of 2015 that called for him to be paid $45,675,000 over the next 6 season, from 2015 thru 2020. That deal averages $7,612,500 per season, not $10M per year. The deal was based on him playing the 3-tech DT position. Because of injuries, and suspensions, Crawford was pressed into duty at DE, where he grades out as an above average Dline player, but certainly NOT high quality or Elite. Elite DE's get paid $17M per season, not $7.6M per season. Until some younger player displaces him as a starter, he may be slightly overpaid. But when you consider how he doesn't get hurt, and how much the NFL is paying for players like Hitchens, his salary is not as far out of line as you might think.

Now, do the Cowboys need an upgrade? ABSOLUTELY!! That's why they spent a 2nd round pick on Randy Gregory and a 1st round pick on Taco Charlton, and a very high 4th round pick on Charles Tapper. But to date, not one of them has been able to play as consistently good as Crawford. It's one thing to complain about Crawford. It's another to realize the Cowboys have spent 3 premium draft picks trying to upgrade him, and none of those picks has panned out...yet.
you know Jumbo as a man, I will admit when I'm blatantly wrong (&only blatantly cuz if it's borderline &I'm wrong,I would fight &carry on as if I'm right) I will have to look@the situation again &see if I could come to the same conclusion/opinion/assumption/action,etc& as that man I will say.. drumroll..(da..dat tä,)....the same thing:;'-)) he been stealing money, his play is sub par, he's a journeyman@ best,he needs to take a pay cut although I didn't know that what he earns &I stand corrected on that aspect so I appreciate ur contribution I was mistakingly confusing his cap hit vs his pay. So ur right in that regard as far as his pay but where u wrong is his earnings total with incentives &. His earnings is 9mill a season irregardless his impact, play on the field, production is expendable & expendable in a sense where u can get better production for far less money or comprable& the talent pool u choose to replace him from is larger& have more& better options than versus the talent pool u choose from@ Dez position so don't just take my word for it I can point to a article that was published by Jess Hanie for the Star who quote says "Crawford has bad contract, unclear role" & that was coming into this past season B4 he finished with his 4sack so this belief of mine is not just mines, many cowboys fans I personally know call him some of the NSFW type of words..me I'm actually being respectful of him by calling him a journeyman. His supporters as ur self& other posters point out he always plays& is constantly healthy but I can use that against u(them)&say that makes it worse. U had this many snaps, these many games all those many opportunities in a full NFL season but yet produce 4sacks where in half a season Irving gives me 7-8 sacks plays a identical position& gets paid considerably less with far less opportunities. The organization thought@ that time that he was going to blossom & be one of the elites & paid him as such. It just hasn't materialized as such, he's a marginal player with marginal stats who in my opinion jumbo can either take a pay cut or be replaced& we will be better as a team. There's no scenario where in which we don't have Dez& we are a better offense a better football team. So with all due respect sir we can agree to disagree it doesn't mean I think any less of u or more of u its ur opinion he's good & worthy of his contract & his production. I'm not i think we can get better & be better without him, I don't think that's possible with Dez. Just like the poster of this thread said. " We are not better without Dez, I wholeheartedly believe that truss!

He doesn't get 10m a season

He signed a 6/45.6m extension.....that is 7.25m a year

He is making 6m this year

At least gets your facts straight
Ok I got them straight , I was speaking of his cap hit y'all were speaking to his pay, so I stand corrected, thankful for the correction he's not making 10 mill but close& I think he's overpaid & definitely needs to take a pay cut& or just cut. We can do better than Tyrone Crawford .. Trust me we can

If fair value is a 3rd round pick he's grossly overpaid and easily upgraded.

It’s time for Dez to go. His ability no longer out weighs his cost and his distraction IMO.

I like your spunk but you don't understand the cap

The rookie pool will only need 2.4m total and the 6m includes the 3m for Scandrick which will more than cover it

Does anyone think Dez makes the ROH? Personally I don't.........There are more deserving Cowboys of the past that aren't in it yet.

Au Contraire.

The Cowboys won a playoff game the season after TO departed.

Dez has become a similar distraction.

1: Distraction.
2: Declining skills.
3: Bad fit with QB.
4: Bad fit with OC.
5: Likely bad fit with WR coach.
6: Cap space saved with be extra cap space next year.
