We are stuck in purgatory at this point with Dak

Despite the notion that I am a Dak hater who wanted him gone years ago, I've never thought he was a terrible QB or he needed to be shot to the sun. I think for some fans it's tough to admit he might not be the guy because deep down you know how hard it is to find a franchise QB. You wanted Dak to be the guy, frankly, we needed Dak to be the guy.

But as the seasons come and go, it becomes a little bit clearer he's unlikely to be a championship caliber QB. The alternative is trying to find that next guy. No, it's not Rush. No, it's not Grier. It's some kid slinging balls in college or even high school at this point. Frankly, it could take years to find that guy after Dak is no longer our QB.

And that just sucks. Accepting the reality that Dak is likely not the guy means that we may have to experience sheer pain in trying to find the next guy. We lucked out that Dak turned out to be as good as he was being a later round pick. That happens quite infrequently. It's not a recipe for success that we should follow. However, just picking QBs in the first and second rounds doesn't guarantee immediate success either.

Contract wise Dak is here for a few more years. But his contract largely precludes the Cowboys from going out and bringing in proven playmakers in FA to give Dak enough to get him closer to succeeding. The draft is a crap shoot, and despite our successes in drafting, we have some failures too.

All this just adds up to purgatory. We are stuck. Stuck between sucking and being elite. Stuck between not making the playoff and getting bounced before a champ game. Stuck between dominating the NFC East and finishing back in the pack. It just sucks.

Anyone dissatisfied with Dak Prescott should begin considering the possibility of Jerry Jones retaining him AFTER his current contract expires. The hardest thing for some fans to accept is that their way of thinking is not necessary that of a team's front office. And in this case, Jerry Jones' mindset is often the polar opposite of fans'.

This is exactly what the Jones' want though. Stay RELEVANT. That is all that matters. As long as they keep winning the Forbes bowl. Nothing will change.

If Purgatory is one game and one quarter away from the championship game, thats not so bad.

At least its not the 8-9 doom and gloom season you predicted before we started. With Dak we have a shot. Whos your solution?

Andy Dalton? Rush? Talk about laughable. NO thanks. Almost time to resign Dak. Until there is a better option you will just have to keep making totally laughable predictions and having them blow up in your face.

True to an extent but even Jerry reaches his breaking point.

In reality, a quality GM would probably be thinking exit strategy at this point with Dak. Start thinking 2-3 years down the road.

Jerry won't. He'll stick with Dak for those next 3-4 years and then when it's obvious it's not work, he'll pull the rip cord - when it's too late and after wasting a couple more seasons. In other words, if Dak is still doing what he's doing 3-4 years from now, he's not getting a 2nd contract.

And let's be honest, who really knows how long Jerry is going to be around at this point.

I never predicted 8-9. I actually said 10-12 wins and a first round playoff loss most likely.

But other than that, another fine post from CowboyRoy.

The Cowboys should absolutely not resign him at this point. His contract runs through 2024. You don't even think about extending him until that season starts.

Isnt there some sort of NFL Baptism that can absolve us of this original sin?

We should have tanked for Lawrence after Dak had that gruesome leg injury. This organization would rather be constantly in the middle rather than at the bottom now with a future on top.

If in two to three years this Cowboys team is the same old Cowboys team with Dak playing great one week, bad a few games later and we can't get beyond the 2nd week of the playoffs, then resigning him would be dumb. It just would be.
"a bad game a few games later" :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Thats the NFL buddy. Thats QB play.

How did Tom Brady play? How did Josh Allen play?

The better teams usually beat the teams they are better than. Sorry if you predicted an easy Cowboys win. This outcome was very predictable. Happened last year as a matter of fact.

Not resigning him without a better QB would be dumb.

So the whole franchise should fold up shop because a bunch of fans are mad we dont have Mahomes?

Until we have a better QB on the roster Dak is the guy. Anything else is laughable.

That last sentence is very important because the expectations some hold may likely not be what Jones believes.

Let's put a pin in this and return to it in three or four years, lol.

I don't get people who say the Jones aren't committed to winning above all else. They clearly are trying to build a winner, but they keep screwing up the negotiations and we get saddled with these terrible contracts. I can't remember the last contract that I felt was a good deal for the team. Maybe Tyron?

I'm glad you find this all so amusing. Do you laugh like that every time Dak throws an interception? Your reply is childish, no need for an attempt at dialog.
Some of these opinions are amusing. I get a kick out of them.

Just like I laughed at the fools predicting an easy Cowboys win against the Niners.

The time I cried the most during the game is when Pollard went out. The game was 100% over.

At that point me and my buddies enjoyed watching Zeke try to play football. The best was where he skipped into the air and then scooted out of bounds.
