For those of us that aren't sold on Dak Prescott. It's a good insurance. He could be another RG3 or kapernick. I need to see a QB play for 3 seasons before I'm sold. I see a lot of people saying "we have our QB for the next decade". How can you be so sure? We better draft another QB just in case. Even if it does work out with Dak we'll need a backup.

Us? It's just you man. You're probably the only person in the entire world that didn't see enough from Dak. And the fact that you're seriously attempting to lump him in with Kap and RG3 tells me that there might be an agenda behind this idiotic post...

What are you talking about? They're are plenty. I'm a Dak fan. But it would be idiotic to think he's going to be great after one good season. We need another QB just in case. RG3 had a better rookie year than Prescott did. We don't know anything yet. Must draft a QB just in case.

You're not sold on Prescott?

Anyway, even if he did digress radically like RG3 or Kaepernick (which I don't see happening). You would probably wait until that happened to make it a priority to draft another.
The one exception would be if an absolute steal fell to us late in the draft, so then it'd be a low risk/ low cost value pick.

Mods can I give this more than one "like"?

I got the guy's back on Prescott. Not sold at all. I want a QB who can carry a team. You can't expect that from any rookie but I have my doubts he can ever be more than a system QB.

We shall see. Unfortunately.

For those coming at me just look at the raiders. They had Derek Carr but still drafted Conner Cook. I don't want Sanchez or Moore here I want some true talent at the position. Let Dak have some competition maybe it makes him better.

Having a good back-up is very important. I'm all for drafting a kid who has potential. If Dak gets hurt, then you have insurance (this is why me thinks Romo stays in Dallas). In 2 or 3 years, if a team gets desperate, you can trade him.

If Dak went out and stunk it up badly yesterday, then I would have my doubts, but the kid played good. Darn good, so i'm convinced he's not a flash in the pan.

Drafting a QB if there's value there is absolutely right, no matter how you feel about Dak. Injuries happen, and even if they don't, you may be able to flip the guy for a lot in a couple years. See how the Patriots do it.

QB is one of the positions I am not worried about. Anything can happen but every team in the league would love to have a QB the caliber of Dak earning a salary of 635K next year. What a huge advantage that is. Or will be once we get rid of Romo's contract. A developmental QB late in the draft is fine with me or just go with Kellen Moore or sign a young FA to mold.

So what round do you want to take this QB? 1st? 2nd? 3rd?

And LOL at claiming Prescott is just a "system" QB like he's Alex Smith out there.

I agree Dak is probably never going to be the QB that puts a team on his back, and throws his way to a title. He will always need help around him. With that said though 90% of active QBs do. You're not going to be happy with anyone not on the Brees/Brady/Rogers level, and i'm not sure I see many more of those QBs coming out of college. A guy like Wentz had the traits, and was probably the best bet in the near future, but he has a long way to go from a development standpoint.

Brilliant logic.

So you draft another QB, but how are you sure he's the future? So then you better draft another guy for insurance of the guy you just drafted to protect you in case Dak's a bust....

Risen, what more could he have done yesterday? The kid is handicapped with a bad defense and bad coaching.

I would draft another QB, but not because I have doubts about Prescott. I draft one because we need a backup, and any QB we draft will be better than Sanchez, thats for sure.

I think we weren't watching the same game yesterday. The game I saw, this Dak guy clearly put the team on his back, after the rest of the team joined him on the field in the 2nd quarter, and gave them the opportunity to win the damn game. And they would have if it wasn't for the clueless coaching staff. Their job is to put the team in a position to win and they clearly failed. If Red calls a running play on 2nd and 3, or calls for a fade for #88, we're all talking about how this Dak guy carried his team to a victory that they had no business doing so after that 1st quarter. Now THAT'S the game that I was watching.
